So, all the interest in Vicky III and the debate over its new systems has got me interested in getting back into Vicky II. It's been SO long since I played it...

I'm looking at jumping right in with a total overhaul mod, but I really have no sense of which one might be the best fit. I'm looking for something mostly historical that stays within the confines of the intended era, so I'm not looking at mods like the Cold War project or the one that covers WWII.  I'm looking most closely at Blood and Iron. Does anyone have experience on this one? How about any thoughts on some others?

Thanks.

I'm also interested in knowing what Groggies make of the various overhaul mods.  Just remember to reboot your game every year or so in-game so your economy doesn't tank  :D
A War of a Madman's Making - a text-based war planning and political survival RPG

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

If I remember correctly, something called the Pop Demand Mod (PDM?) was the most historically correct.

I'm sure a google search would bring up some of the more historical mods.
It's been ages since I played VicII but I did play it to death in it's time.
I do remember a guy named Naselus was the mod guru.

Might fire it up again too.
