I can't start to imagine what these songs must have meant to soldiers around the world during the war.

I've always loved her songs.  RIP Vera  :(

Government is not the solution to our problem—government is the problem.   Ronald Reagan
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.   Thomas Jefferson
During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.   George Orwell  The truth is quiet...It's the lies that are loud.   Jesus Revolution
If you ever find yourself in need of a safe space then you're probably going to have to stop calling yourself a social justice warrior. You cannot be a warrior and a pansy at the same time   Mike Adams (RIP Mike)

When I hear "We'll Meet Again" I can't get the end of "Dr. Strangelove" out of my head.

I would link the clip, but its sarcasm is probably not a respectful tribute to her.

RIP Vera Lynn...we'll meet again.

Rated as the 2nd most valuable player of all time by Bill James.

Am I really the only one who associates her with Pink Floyd's The Wall? That song used to haunt me when I was younger and I didn't even understand who or what the song was about.

Maybe.  I thought their Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here albums were great and I've still got them, but I kinda got turned off them after Animals.  Never knew there was a Pink Floyd song mentioning Vera Lynn...till today.

The Wall is a fantastic album. It is about a rock star who increasingly feels aliented from his audience and who eventually withdraws into a self-imposed isolation inside of the "Wall".  The fictional character, "Pink" lost his father in WWII (he was a pilot) and never got to meet him. I think this is true of Roger Waters, as well. In any event, the song "Vera" is about Vera Lynn and the ironic nature of her song, "We'll Meet Again"...

"I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."  - Frank Herbert
