Title: Subnautica
Post by: Jarhead0331 on March 29, 2015, 09:49:49 AM
I'm having great fun with this early access title. So far, its the first game I've played that has actually done underwater exploration in a way that is fun.

The game takes place on an alien world, and the sea life is really diverse so far...I haven't even left my starting site really and I know there is already so much to explore at various depths. Yes, its another crafting survival game, but the underwater element makes it very unique.

What exactly are you supposed to craft? Build an underwater base? Is it just exploration and survival? (Which is fine)

Is Mission 1 to escort Jar Jar to Gungan City?

Tools, weapons, vehicles, equipment, bases, etc. Right now, it seems to be just exploration and survival, but it is early access...I'm not sure what the development plan is. I've been too busy having fun playing around in the sandbox to look.

Well, doesn't matter what it turns out to be. I'm just glad that someone came up with a new setting and a new idea

Surely it should be pond or aquarium or some other watery metaphor...

This has been on my Steam watchlist for awhile now. I'm intrigued. Glad you like it so far, Jarhead.

Ditto!

(There are a number of survival sandbox underwater games in the works, but this is the only one I know going for the alien world angle.)

Still really having a blast. Just built my first cyclops. Its the giant sub pictured in the screenshot. The thing kicks ass. It can dock a Seamoth, which is like a little mini submersible. Nothing is going to prevent me from exploring the depths of the sea now!

Where are the babes (Mermaids)?

Haven't seem any mermaids, but the diversity of sea life is extremely impressive, and flora and fauna changes as you move to different locations and depths. The sounds of all the different animals are really cool too.

Any news on the DLC?  Looooved this game!  There was a genuine void in my life after I completed it :(
