Lots more Field of Glory 2 Digital League action where my Horse archer dominated armies that I chose this season in what can only be ascribed to a tragic case of temporary insanity   :idiot2: continue to show real flair and imagination in finding different ways of  getting absolutely slaughtered against a wide variety of opponents.....relegation battles loom I fear... :hide:

In downtime from my troubles I shall chill out with my Encased odyssey....

We'll see how long I stick with Far Cry 6 until the formula wears thin again.  Aside from that, more of the usual suspects:  Dicking around in GTA Online, shooting bots in my modded Insurgency server (SithAdmin's Server if you catch it while it's online), and getting spooked in Phasmophobia.

My last run in Crusader Kings III as King of Scotland turned Holy Roman Emperor came to a grinding halt right around 1350...  Not because I lost, necessarily, but I just got fatigued with the war system.  I formed my own split-off of Christianity, made it so I can appoint my own bishops, and called it Scotestantism.  Turns out about 80% of central Europe was not happy with this switch, so I ended up with something like 30-50k peasant rabble roaming around Germany.  To be frank, I just can't deal with the Supply system on such a large scale.  When you have more than 10k troops in an army, it's a huge pain in the ass having to constantly split up armies and have them sit around with their thumbs in unpleasant places while you wait for them to get enough supply to not just get mopped up in a battle that they'd otherwise win.  Rinse and repeat every few months, and the result is that extended wars with huge armies are just a big chore more than anything else.  I don't even care so much about dealing with the consequences of a loss, but it's annoying as hell when you lose to some absolute bullshit like a half-baked supply tick system.

Yeah, the FoG players in the Matrix tournaments are really good.  I'm happy when I finish in the upper end of the lower half of the players.  I'm delighted when I get to the top 40%, something I haven't managed for several years.....

Totally right.

I normally float around in the third Division out of 6 achieving nothing much more than a splendid mediocrity but its a looking like a heck of a fight this season...

Dropped the gold for 30 days of Premium time in World of Tanks so maybe, just maybe, I can grind out two lines up to at least Tier 9 (currently sitting at 8 and 7 respectively) after playing this damn game for 9 years now.  No specific meaning in trying for Tier 9 alone, just think that is about all I can manage before I get tired of the game again.

Pew pew, me amigos!

Just picked up Diablo II: Resurrected myself... Looks like they knocked the remaster out of the park!

^Graphics-wise it is great and I have not yet tired of hitting the 'G' key which switches the screen between the remaster and the original...it just doesn't get old.

Occasionally I do get tired of some of the older mechanics and miss Diablo III, but I am having enough fun to keep going. Almost done with the first chapter. If you dig old school loot 'n' shoot Diablo II Resurrected is a no brainer. The music is also still hauntingly top notch.

Oh and I am playing as a Druid, a class I have not played yet. I like it...it is sort of like playing a combo of Necromancer, Wizard and Barbarian.

After much thought and deliberation, it'll be Medieval TW 2 with Stainless Steel Mod. as the Stormin' Normans.  :arr:

^Excellent choice. I think I have put more hours and had more fun with the Stainless Steel mods than any others. Although I still have yet to launch my first campaign in Attila: TW with the 1212 mod, aka Medieval TW 3 😎

Just beat Andariel in Diablo II - took several tries and deaths. Still enjoying it though. Advanced on to Chapter 2, but I think I am going to switch it up a bit and go back to Diablo III as the Necromancer (Lvl 54) as I am in Act 4 and curious as to what comes next.

Going to fire up Age of Darkness now and check it out.

Nice.  I always enjoyed Druids for the Werebear and Werewolf skills.  I made a Necromancer since they were always my #1 class, I love rolling with my skelly squad and spamming bone and poison spells.  Barbarian and Pally were probably tied for my #2.  I've just gotten to the outer cloister and poised to kill Andariel and get to Act 2 tonight.

^HA yeah the werebear and werewolf are a trip. I grew to rely on the fire spells too...those are really really good at 'crowd control,' even for stronger enemies.

Andariel wears some kind of odd high heeled leather boots or something. While fearing for my druid's life I found myself weirdly entranced.

And yeah in D3 I formed a mini army with my necromancer with a squad of six armored skeletons as well as 2-3 other minions. D3 really got that feeling of commanding a supernatural squad down pat.

Now I am torn...I enjoyed both the druid and the necromancer...didn't think I would enjoy D2 Resurrected as much. And of course there is new Diablo 4 material to check out but it will be a while before that game is even close to ready for release.

I should just be satisfied that I feel like I am getting appropriate bang for my buck with Resurrected...it could have gone either way, I think.

Fire spells are indeed great for melting hordes of enemies, but be warned if you plan on playing through on Nightmare and Hell difficulties (aka New Game+ and New Game++), on Hell difficulty many common enemies are entirely immune to elemental magic.  I had a cold-focused Sorceress in the original D2 and her run came to a screeching halt when I realized standard imps in Act 1 are entirely immune to cold spells on Hell difficulty  :-[

I forgot all about Diablo 4, definitely curious what direction they'll take the game.  I wasn't a big fan of D3 if I'm being honest, so D2 with improved graphics makes me happy long time.  :crazy2:

By the way, I just learned from the updated UI that while running, your defense value is effectively ignored, so you are almost certain to get hit by enemy attacks.  Walking is fine though.  Played this game for 20 years and never knew this!

^I didn't know that either and I had to do a lot of running to beat Andariel!

I have already started bumping into random enemies that are immune to magic - single ones so far though so I just clobber them with my melee weapon, for now.

I can see that being impossible if there are more than a few that are immune and then getting overrun. Which brings us back to the Necromancer and why I love that class...magic and the hardcore squad. Nothing better :)

^And beating Diablo himself in Diablo III - did that yesterday in a final battle that almost cost me my mouse and fingers. Now I will casually enjoy the DLC Act V of Diablo III. Glad I switched it up over the weekend.

^Haha!  That reminds me.  My youngest trashed my 80 dolla Corsair mouse last year playing the Sims.  I was not happy.  So now when she wants to borrow my computer for gaming I let you use a cheap 20 dollar Logitech mouse.

When I upgraded my PC last year I got a Roccat Swarm mouse. IIRC it cost me about 50.00 but it is excellent. Not wireless, but I don't need wireless anyway.

My Corsair is wired as well.  There is no performance issues when you use wired mice.
