I started the 1944 Campaign the other night and crap there are a lot of pieces on the board.... anyway, so far I have had a couple of bloody battles however one in particular calls me to rethink how I deploy the Japanese ships.

The IJN had one CV, BB, DD defending the Solomon Islands which I was attacking.  The rules called for the CV to be in the Ocean Zone, the escort ship with the lowest Surface Attack to accompany the CV in the Ocean Zone, next the ship with the highest Surface Attack value to take up position in the Coastal Zone (which was the BB Yamamoto).... now, the Yamamoto was a sitting duck as I threw all of the aircraft at it with its only one AAA attack I was able to sink it...  afterwards I felt like a cheap hooker.....

I did not violate the rules, however it felt like I cheated!  I have routinely for the Japanese attack certain targets without a roll... for example I had a CRU and DD in the Ocean Zone alone, I threw all the Japanese attacks at the ships and ignored the infantry and couple of planes on the island.  They sunk both then had them attack the Island...... maybe I will split it up next time, who knows.

Finish my '44 campaign last night in the next to last campaign turn as it apparent that I could do no worse than a Historical finish.

It was apparent that as the months dragged on I was scouting and attacking their fleets with superior carriers and airpower.  They did manage to inflict some heavy ground casualties, but I only lost a Cruiser and Destroyer while decimating their Carriers and Battleships.  I specifically targeted their Carriers while assaulting the Islands I thought I could build a line with and defend.  A couple of times they did move forward to try and take Wake back from me, but the strength of my fleets easily swatted them back.

The Last two remaining turns I had a pretty sizable fleet waiting in Pearl Harbor and another huge stack coming in from the transition box followed by another......
