And to think I thought I was the only one who thought the Civ VI shots looked way too cartoony.

Anyway I hated Civ IV and loved Civ V so...to each their own.

You're not the only one, Gus. I think the objects/people are cartoony as well. But I have to hand it to them for going all in with that design choice throughout instead of doing it in different styles. The only thing about 6 that bugs me is that, but it's not a big deal. I'll still buy it, but not until it's on sale (Christmas perhaps?).

How much on sale are you looking for?  Number of places have between $40-$46 already if you pre order......I am guessing it won't be much cheaper than that this year.

BanzaiCat

Probably about half that. Though I gotta think, too, there's going to be tons of DLC coming out in the next few years.

It's just a matter of getting the purchase in under the radar. But the real truth is, I have way too much gaming-wise to get into without adding 6 to my plate.

Gotcha....going to guess it will be quite some time before it hits the $20 range...but if you have plenty of other things to play, sounds like you have time.

I haven't seen enough yet to warrant a purchase without a sale, to be honest. But I don't love the series like Brant or 'Dawg do. Civ V hit the sweet spot for me.

I bought the first 5 as soon as they came out, I doubt this one will be any different.

Before Civ V the last iteration I really loved was Civ II.

I owned and played every iteration since the first one, and have loved each and every one of them. Though when V hit my PC, IV seemed utterly underwhelming to me.

Jury's out on 6, I guess. The Let's Play vids I've seen (two, and only partially) make it look pretty and the changes seem interesting. I know I'll get it eventually, just not now.

A-ha...case in point for DLC:

The video is pretty good, and he adds a #11 at the end - the World Congress is not included in the base game (maybe you guys knew that, but I did not), but might be included in future DLC.

Not that I'm a huge fan of the World Congress, but it does offer up the World's Fair improvement, which is a big time boost to your Culture in V. I wonder what they'll do with it in VI.

The more I see these cartoony graphics the more I like them, actually. Some of the leaders are caricatures (well, I guess you could argue they ALL are), but I like how they're animated and how expressive they are.

BC....that's an excellent video. The changes look to make this iteration of Civ. something different than those before it. I was on the fence until now. This is one I'll get someday down the road.

Watched the video. How the HELL are they going to balance all of that?

At least some unit stacking is back in. "One unit per hex" killed Civ-5. There is hope for 6.

Does anyone have a decent understanding of the "stacking" arrangement in C6? Form what I have seen and read it could be anything from really neat ( stacking lots of artillery, armor, AA, etc with basic infantry or cav or armor)  to give a combined arms effect, to totally useless, like the Civ-5 system. Escorting settlers, however useful, does nothing to enhance combat or reduce unit spread. I still don't understand why they don't use stacking points. Not perfect, but better than nothing.

My understanding of stacking for combat units is this:

Support type comabt units, arty, aa, bazookas etc. can be stacked/attached to main type combat units, inf, tanks, etc.

At some point you can combine 2, maybe it's 3, inf, tanks, cav, etc units together to make an "army" unit.

Don't be looking for stacks of doom though....
