Title: Suzerain
Post by: hellfish6 on December 09, 2020, 04:48:53 AM
So this is a bit different for this board, but I stumbled across this game last night and absolutely fell in love with it. It's a political sim, almost totally text based but with an excellent art style. You're the newly elected president of a Central/Eastern European-type country (it feels very Turkish to me) with a history of coups and revolutions and you've inherited a shit economy and a backwards nation. You decide on your back story and it's up to you to try to earn a second term as President. The characters, cities, regions, and nations all have fleshed out backstories. It's a fictional world but if you know a bit about world history you'll definitely pick up on the inspirations.

If you ever liked Hidden Agenda, the old grandfather of all political games, you'll appreciate this game. In more contemporary terms, it's a more serious version of Tropico without the city building.

I saw this. Looked sort of interesting, but i passed for now. If they release a Borat themed dlc, I might change my mind. Especially if has cultural learnings of America for make benefit of glorious nation.

I have bought it too as a bit of a political geek and will give it a run through very soon  after my Pathfinder Kingmaker first attempt comes to grief (which wont be long coming) ;)

This looks good, thanks for posting. Borat would make it even better, like Zork with Kazak butt jokes.

I will check out  Evil Democracy too but having played the first section of Suzerain  I am really impressed. It is full of flavour with lots of important and difficult choices to be made.
