$9.99 for the complete Victoria/Victoria 2 collection is just a fantastic deal.  Anyone interested in the game should pick it up instantly at this price.  Vicky 2 Heart of Darkness with the very easy to install PDM mod may be my favorite Paradox game of all.  I actually went back to Vicky 2 after a stint with EUIV -- I find it's just a deeper, more interesting game.

EDIT -- just checked out the GG deal, which may be a mistake, but the "Victoria Collection" on GG does *not* seem to include the Heart of Darkness expansion -- ??  In which case, the Steam deal that does include HoD is a no brainer -- go with Steam.

Meanwhile, Gamersgate is putting pretty much every "pirate" themed game on sale this week, along with every vaguely "Venice" themed game, every economic naval game, and every combination thereof. Or possibly it's every pirate themed game plus other games in series related to those games (thus the Two World games are on sale but only the most recent iteration has anything specifically to do with pirates).

No doubt this is due to the rise of Rise of Venice.

I saw it about a month or so back and wrote up a mock review for the devs. You summed it up nicely in that second sentence.

If you really love trading sims, you might like it. I prefer more action and options, such as what Pirates! offered.

Meanwhile, on Gamersgate today, a crazy ton of things are added on sale to the crazy ton of things (pirates and all games in related series).

For grogs, the more interesting sales will be all the Civ V pieces (including all iterations and collections back through Civ3), and Unity of Command, the somewhat larger-scale supply-driven version of Panzer General which follows the East Front WW2 battles from Germany's post-Barbarossa push in its southern theater, to Russia's eventual pushback and victory in Berlin. Oh, and AI War with its current expansions are on sale again. (Didn't we just have one of those sales a couple of weeks ago...? I'm guessing this is preparation for the next expansion coming this fall -- or am I imagining I heard that?)
