Hockey season is here!  Please sticky this thread.

To start things off, the Penguins have Phil Kessel on a lineup with Crosby.  This I'm actually eager to see how it develops.  It's got potential,  and I'm thinking of adding Kessel in my pool with the expectations he's going to score lots with Crosby on his side.  On the other hand, he's $10 million, and his +/- was horrible the last few years (albeit it was with the Leafs, can the Pens help turn this 'round?)  Thoughts?

Being on a team capable of outscoring the opposition should help the +/- a bit.  :)

Actually, Pittsburgh's D does worry me this year. The fact that Derrick Pouliot came in so out of shape that he couldn't beat out Ian Cole or Ben Lovejoy for a job is not exactly impressive for their supposed best D prospect. Of course, if Kris Letang and Olli Maatta can just stay healthy all year...

...yeah, they're probably doomed.

As for Kessel, he should be a legit 40 goal threat barring injury.

Yeah Pouliot didn't make the cut, and Dupuis is going to miss 4-5 weeks now.

For the picks, I had to swing for the fences, otherwise you just end up picking the same main forwards.  Still think it will be fun to see these two Pens lines playing.

Also keen on seeing what happens with rookies Connor McDavid and Jeff Eichel. Both are on teams that are down and out, but have nowhere to go but up.

Wow, save of the night by Lundqvist

...and a goal by Kessel (come 49 to go  baby!)

Terrific Don Cherry impersonation by PK Subban of the Habs ROTFL (he's a good player... but he's not Bobby Orr  :2funny:)  Check the signature table piano hands movements:

Bruins' Marchand out with concussion after walking into  Weise's elbow over the weekend.

Much as I love to hate Marchard, he can hustle (Gallagher plays similar style) and would love him on my team.

Habs power play:  with so many power play advantages and scoring changes, habs power plays is absolutely shameful after 2 games. The opposing team knows what to expect and they just stick guys up front to push away the blue liners...

There are rumors that Boston is shopping both Marchand and Chara, with moves becoming a possibility once they're both healthy.

I don't watch very much hockey, but, I watched a lot of the Bruins run for the Cup a few years back.  The one thing I remember vividly is, how the hell does a guy as big as Chara not fall over on skates?!

6 foot 9, 255 pounds. That dude is an absolute monster. His reach is just silly.

He may be big, but he can accelerate despite the size, just not as spiffy on fancy turns though.

The Pens won one finally, but Crosby still without a goal. How long will their current coach last?

Jagr got 2 goals tonight!

The 'Canes finally won, and looked pretty good doing it for most of the game.

They had a rookie score on his first-ever NHL shift about 55sec into the 1st, in Detroit, where the kid grew up.  Kinda cool for him.

I would have suspected that, especially if he grew back the mullet cut.
