Started this morning:
http://newamsterjammin.blogspot.com/
Each post will include a picture of a historical landmark or ruin in the New York or Hudson Valley area. I am going to use the character of 'Petrus' to describe the things he has seen over the course of his 350 year life and to also tell his own story, which will be a doozy.
The point (if there is one) is to tell some creepy, old timey tales, give some history and mythology of the areas featured and to keep my writing and shooting (photo) skills up.
At the same time, I hope this gets my juices flowing enough to re-start the writing of my book.
What do y'all think?
Looks cool Gus. Looking forward to the stories, I know nothing of the history of that area.
8)
Looking forward to the entry on those stone chambers.

Knowing that following her in there would lead to a gruesome death would not keep me from following.
BTW, nice blog Gus.
^HA! Going to take the first three pics this weekend and then write from there. Hoping for 2-3 new stories a week.
Going to reveal how Petrus came to be so old?
^I will. I will draw you in with some background to the area first.
Looks like an interesting beginning to an original idea. Kudos Gus!
^Thanks for visiting W8. I hope this will get my arse in gear.
^If you love what you do, and I suspect you do, then you will get yourself in gear. The key is persistence. I've tried many a time to start a project only to have it fizzle out due to my fickle mind.
Usually I complete what I start. The problem has been too many interests. I had to grab one and run with it. This will also propel me to join the 21st century and join FB. Prepare thyselves.
Good! You can play Marvel: Avengers Alliance... Windy's got me hooked!
^Reason #1000 of why I am afraid of FB...even more online distractions! Time for me to create my own distractions :)
Nice blog, Gus. Can't wait to read more.

You can repay me in SHIELD Points. I need to level-up 'cause Loki is kicking my ass!
BTW Gussy-poo ... 2 thumbs up :D
Good looking start.
The only thing I would suggest is add the follower gadget so me and others can follow your blog.
Thanks Breezy. Tent, flower gadget? What do you mean?

For some reason I can't even follow your blog with the link on the blogger bar. If you want people to follow your blog make sure you have settings turned on that anyone can follow your blog.
FINE, I'll follow it. The things I do for people...
Bookmarked. Look forward to more!
For some reason I can't access it? All I get is a pure white Page.....hmmmm...
^Maybe some weird Canadian thing? Thanks for the tip, Tent...still adjusting to my new nerd glasses :/

I can see it! :P
^Well obviously you are much less weird than Migs :) ...but you new that.
I think I turned the doohickey on that allows the riff-raff to follow the blog if they want, like Arctic and Martok :)
Can anyone confirm?
Kind of pathetic that I work on an intranet for a living but whatevs...
It works. I am now stalkin... errr.... I mean following your blog.
The set up to your story kind of reminds me of a short lived TV show from a number of years back. Funny enough it was called "New Amsterdam" and it was about a NY cop who was several hundred years old thanks to some sort of Indian magic. He went around solving crimes using his knowledge of the history of the city since he was there watching it grow. There are also flashbacks to times in the past as they related to the episodes. I liked the premise but apparently it wasn't making its network enough money.

I just plugged the blog feed in to Feedly, so I haven't been anywhere near your doohickey. And I'd frankly like to keep it that way.

EDIT:There was also a book about 10 years ago along the same lines: Forever (http://www.amazon.com/Forever-A-Novel-Pete-Hamill/dp/0316735698). It was about a man who was immortal as long as he did not leave the Island of Manhattan.
Joined! Can't wait to see some more stories!
Nice blog Gus.
It's in my Favorites bar. I'll be following from there.
^Thanks so much for the love guys. It means a lot to me and I am flattered! I watched New Amsterdam when it was broadcast and remember it being kinda meh...I wanted to love it but just didn't.
Forever, on the other hand, is one of my favorite fiction books.
And Arctic my doohickey is real and spectacular! There's actually an application out there called Feedly??
Gus I'd really like it if you could crank up the intensity quickly as I'm copying everything you write and submitting to a producer as my movie idea :D
That's what I love about this forum, Migs.
Everybody is always thinking.
No grass growing under feet here.
I liked your blog on FB. So if you have some western canadians coping a read of your blog.... 'from far and wide, Oh Canada..."
^Thanks Breezy! I haven't had a chance to start my own FB page with the holiday this weekend but the family is going to be out of town...I should be able to put together a page for myself then.
Next immediate goal is to get the first storytelling post up on the blog, with images. Trying to make this simple to both read and write. Each post will have 1-3 images and 500-1000 words. In theory.
Will be kooky to see where this goes. Maybe after a year I could make a book out of it. Unless of course Migsy has already stolen my thunder :/

I dunno man. I wouldn't bet either way on that!
The day we all get busy trying to outweird each other will be the true apocalypse.
Then the True Apocalypse has come and gone already. And we didn't even notice...
^Proving how truly weird we are.

Feedly just takes your existing Google Reader RSS feeds and plugs them in to a more easily customizable format. Works like any other feed reader : on a page you like? Subscribe to the feed and you'll always get the updates.
^I am tickled by the name.
Gus, If you could add a car chase, some gun play or sex (preferably all three), I can really start pitching this thing 8)
^All in due time. The first thing I want to reveal is where Petrus lives. And why.
Oh yeah - can we change Petrus to Dillion or something more a little more "90210' - we wanta bring in the younger demogaphic so we can capitalize on the merchandising profits. And if we could work Megan Fox in somewhere I'd be most grateful.

They both work on the social side of government Gussy-poo. They see all the worst from the bowels of our civilization. It makes them weird, just like a war changes a soldier, social work changes a civil servant.
I thought I saw the worst of civilization just on my way to work this morning.
Megan Fox will definitely make an appearance. Even if it's just a nude picture pasted somewhere with no reason to be there.

I mean, I'm flattered and everything, but...no.

I am dude dressed like a woman, umm...maybe look away and I'll put on some pants?

This is not the apocalypse I was expecting.
Hey, tell Petrus it's eight, not seven. I'm not signed up, but I AM following.
^Pete appreciates it, Dawg! He's also looking for some time when it's not raining to go into the woods and shoot his lair to make this a true image-based blog, finally. Annoying how 'real life' and 'work' get in the way of things that matter.
