GREAT SUCCESS

   I consulted the I Ching
(it said:
The melons are concealed by willow trees.
The story that fell from heaven is kept to oneself.) so to help those melons and keep the story to myself
I bought the Gascoigne (which was never built, but at least it was physically possible unlike some of the other French ships that I will not name):

Duskers

Good choice!  More people should know about this game.  It's tough, but it's so atmospheric and a joy to play.

Destraex

"They only asked the Light Brigade to do it once"

OJsDad

Too much.

Let's see;

Heart of Iron IV Colonel edition (got it last night as Green Man Gaming had it for $18)

Had a 38% discount anniversary coupon from Matrix so of course I had to use it

Battlestar Galactica with all DLC
Armored Brigade
The Operational Art of War IV

Other games;

Cold Waters
Table Top Simulator

Mega Corp for Stellaris
Holy Fury for Crusader Kings II
Dharma for EU IV

On the table top side;

South China Seas
Der Weltkrieg: Western Front.

'Here at NASA we all pee the same color.'  Al Harrison from the movie Hidden Figures.

That Gascoigne is one sexy French mofo.

  Named for Admiral Darlan's home province: Gascogne (no i as it turns out).  World of Warships factors her out as slightly better than the Washington/South Dakota/Alabama class in most ways.  Essentially it's the last French battleship that even came close to being built.

Sir Slash

I successfully resisted the urge to buy anything this year, mostly because I already blew my budget in the fall sale.  #:-)
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

Thanks to the Best of 2018 thread, I bought Assassins Creed Odyssey and Kingdom Come Deliverance
I am debating doing the exact same thing also due that best of thread. How are those games working out for you?

Commander: The Great War on Steam.  Nice game.  At only $10, I don't regret the purchase in the slightest.  With the PotzBlitz Mod as an essential add-on, I can foresee myself continuing to, you know, actually play CTGW.

I have had my eyes on that game for quite some time as I have no good WWI game. Do I need to know much about WWI to enjoy it? How complex is it? How about the AI? Will look for that mod you mentioned if I get the game. Thanks for the heads up.

No prior knowledge needed.  Tactically simple, strategically complex, but not overly so.  The AI is decent enough to challenge me.  With the PotzBlitz mod especially -- an essential add-on, IMO; don't play the game without it -- there is much variation and replayability.  The game can go down a different narrative path each time.  Recommended.
I got the game after your recommendation and I'm glad I did. Have just started with it but seems to be a good WWI entry game. And it does look really good to boot. But the PotzBlitz mod can't be downloaded. There is a link over at Slitherine but it is broken. Hope it will be revived soon.

Tuna

Behaved, grabbed Foxhole in the last hour.
In the sale week before Xmas sale, I grabbed Kuban for IL2.

Bardolph

Got Aggressors: Ancient Rome for the second time. Had refunded it once due to technical issues but going to try it again.

Also picked up Slay The Spire and Into the Breach after seeing them mentioned so many places. Both are pretty cool so far.

And out of curiosity stemming in part from the thread here I grabbed GTA V. I haven't played since GTA I lol. The top-down, 2D one.
Not my usual sort of game but a couple of my buddies have countless hours in it. I figured for $15 what the heck.

Will probably still play more Rocket League than anything. Just so easy to jump in and play a match or two.

The response (http://www.slitherine.com/forum/posting.php?mode=quote&f=218&p=762968#pr762968) from the PotzBlitz Mod author at the Slitherine Forum:

Thanks a lot @berto  :bd:
What happened was that I got a link from the Matrix forum section and that pointed to an much older version. So no surprise it wasn't available. But I could download from the links in the quote you made. I guess I'll go directly to Slitherine from now on for updates to the mod.
Again, thanks  :clap:
