Nice video W8....!  If it wasn't for the red print bracketing enemy planes, how would you ever see them? Were enemy planes that difficult to see in real life during the war?

Flight sims don't seem to be able to portray distant aircraft very well.  Much of the problem being the limitations of screen resolution and display pixel size compared to the human eye.  Also the limited framerates makes noticing movement of a distant speck less noticeable.  Then there are color, lighting, and reflection differences that isn't as good either.   Anti-aliasing settings will also make them even more difficult to see since the sub pixel sized specks get their edges further trimmed down.

So most sims compensate by providing brackets or labels under them, when they're in what would normally be considered observable distances IRL.  I like WOFF's approach where the distant specks are displayed as a tiny square pixel dot until it's close enough to be a decent displayable size.  It is a straightforward way to compensate for the lack of definition, and related movement and reflected light cues the human eye has without adding a bunch of brightly colored crap over the targets.  Still requires that you scan about and  holds more immersion that way IMO.

Nice demo showing off the interplanetary travel process.  I'd love to get me hands on this game.

Short vid of my RFC 46 campaign run-in with an interloping Albatros D.III during a Recon Escort mission in the German rear.

Playing WOFF v2.

Good kill.

But it looked like the pilot was dead some time before the ball of flames - or he was just like "meh"  >:D

Nefaro....excellent video!  For awhile there I thought you might be shooting blanks...but then boom, a ball of flame and down he goes.

Yep.  Pilot was probably unconscious or dead by the end there.  But I had to be sure, to get the kill.  I've let a few go when I thought they were goners only to find out that they were playing possum and glided home.  They will also go into a diving spin after being hit at high altitude, to feign a fatal injury, then pull out near ground level and make a run for it.

I actually did that the day before.  An Albatros I shot up was smoking and his engine died.  He was gliding back towards his lines and not maneuvering, so I figured he'd probably crash before reaching home.  But he must've managed to do so while I was shooting at one of his 2-seater buddies because my kill wasn't confirmed.

A big reason I enjoy WOFF is the AI.  It's not always predictable and you definitely notice the differing AI pilot skill levels.  ROF's AI pilots are just terrible, with their constant flying in a flat circle when you get behind them.  ::)   You could see that this guy, while obviously not one of the better AIs, still tried some different defensive maneuvers including a (failed) attempt at scissoring to get me to overshoot.

Had to make sure I got my kill this time!  :knuppel2:

Nice aerial maneuvering Nefaro.  You managed to stay on or near his six and prevent him from getting on yours.  I think that ai pilot was trying to drain your energy in an effort to slow you and get on you but you turned well with him.   O0

Admittedly, he was one of the easier AI pilots in WOFF.  I recorded this vid as part of testing the latest version of Nvidia ShadowPlay, to make sure it recorded okay.

I'll run across some historical Ace, or get in a huge dogfight, and run into much more trouble soon.  This squadron was posted at a section in the line with the most experienced Jastas on the opposite side, and it's during 3rd Ypres so there will probably be lots of action.

What plane are you flying?  I'm thinking maybe a Nieuport because of the single nose mounted mg.  That 2 seater made you work hard for the kill.  I got startled a bit when I heard the zip of his rear mg firing at you.  Actually I was so immersed that I got scared.  That must have been a disconcerting sound to hear for a new pilot back then.
