(Okay, I'm cheating a bit.  It's 9 pm on Thursday where I'm at.   ::))

It's my fifth Friday of unemployment and boy, am I envying the retired folks here.  Been on a big Red Dead binge lately so some Morricone feels like an appropriate way to kick off the weekend.   :coolsmiley:  I'm also making steady progress through Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, so that rounds out the western vibes for me.

A buddy let me have her Xbox 360 for super cheap, so I've been catching up on some exclusives I never played over the last decade.  I'm playing through the campaign of Gears of War and it's.... okay, honestly.  I can see why it was huge at the time, but since I don't have any nostalgia tied to it, it just feels like playing a clunkier version of a dozen other games I've already played.  Red Dead is kinda the same way, except I've got nostalgia coming out the wazoo for that game.  If anyone has great memories of any 360 exclusive titles I should pick up, I'm all ears.

Aside from that, maybe some Unity of Command II?  I've now officially been eliminated from every one of my Dominions 5 MP matches, so maybe I should get started on another of those so I can get my dreams of godhood crushed all over again.   :'(

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

You are forgiven the gun jumping as you used FRIDAY properly ;)  The last time sink I had on a console was Guitar Hero/Rock Band.  Learned a whole bunch of new tunes I'd never heard before and got to be a passable (fake) guitar player.

This weekend will see me try to hang on to, and advance, my newly acquired Diamond ranking in MtG:Arena.  Got there with a Black/Red sacrifice deck.  EPL is off the International break so there will be football Saturday and Sunday.   Gaming will consist of some form of Civ IV/Warlock MOtA/p&p D&D research.  Feeling the itch again.  And no, Lotrimin will not cure it.

Lotrimin cures everything! Prepping the hand over of my current rig to my younger daughter and comparing purchasing options for the new machine...there are so many configurations, brands and options to choose from it is bedazzling.

Dammit Carl!

My World of _ gaming continues apace as I'm looking to do my semi-annual thing where I plunk my ass down and seriously try to grind stuff out via Premium Time and whatnot.  The fact that Wargaming is waving multiple Premium Shop coupons in front of my face and tempting me has nothing to do with this decision either  ;).

Now, to download the mod that replaces my tank crew voices with that of the Minions from Despicable Me and I'll be set...

Have a good weekend, all!

Great song choice a_i.   Been on a solitaire board game kick of late.  Getting into Warfighter WWII by DVG.  Tons of fun.  Computer gaming...frustrated with HoI4 I'm giving HoI3 another go.

On Amazon, I think, there are a slew of Italian Westerns to enjoy currently.  Can't get over how many dark complexioned but blue-eyed (and very, very sweaty seeming) cowboys there were running around in those days.

And speaking of movies to pick up, think I'll pony up for the Zatoichi set at some point or another.

Good stuff - I've been eyeing RDR2 for a while now.  Have you ever seen it go on sale?  How's the story rate up ?

I'm enjoying The Witcher 3 so far - can't believe I missed out all this time.  I've got the White Orchard theme stuck in my head all day now and it doesn't go away.  It does remind me of Game of Thrones when they follow The Hound and Arya through the ravaged countryside.

I did snatch up Elite: Dangerous on sale on Steam today - that was too good to pass on and hope to to try the tutorial out this weekend a bit.

Witcher 3 - one of my all time favorites.

  Boardgames!  Yep...and World of Warships.

Agree on Witcher 3, great game.

Do you play with controller or keyboard and mouse?

For me this weekend:

Nantucket (Steam sales)
This war of mine (Ditto)

Pick up my Crusader Kings III campaign...

Jarhead0331

DCS, DCS, and DCS. Then, maybe some Ghost Recon Breakpoint. It's great when a developer listens to its fans and actually changes a game to make it closer to what they want. Also, Phantom Brigade, War Room and maybe some Mission Mars.
Grogheads Uber Alles
Semper Grog

Fran how is Nantucket? Been interested in that one for a long time.

Still using keyboard/mouse for now.  I'm going to start looking for a controller set soon on the side once my son is ready to play Lego Star Wars or Indiana Jones together though.
