I really enjoy Minecraft so this definitely has my attention.

I saw a pitch for this somewhere, possibly on Kickstarter or Rock, Paper, Shotgun. I thought it looked awesome then. I will certainly grab it.

Have a look at http://www.wurmonline.com/

It sounds interesting but also as if they're kicking it out the door, perhaps.  Since there's some free trial or something, I'll check it out sometime after the "official" release.  Have you played the Open Beta?

Quote from: pcgamerAfter existing as an open beta since 2006, it will finally get an official 1.0 release next week on December 12th.

In a post on the Wurm Online dev blog, the game's team outline what that release will entail. The big new features will be character customisation, visible armour, multi story buildings and better looking creatures.

I have dabbled in Wurm Online, but the free account is pretty limiting.
Also, the character animations where non existant at the time (6 months ago or so), are they in yet? I saw it will release in a v1.0 soon, so I figure the graphics would be finished?

The premise is great, build whatever you want in a medieval world. Wage wars, become mayor, etc, but I get a feeling that the amount of time needed to invest in this game is huge to get anywhere?

When I played it felt more like a tech demo than a game. How is it these days?
Oh and did you know that Notch (the dev from minecraft) actually worked on Wurm too? ;)
