I've been tossing around the idea of throwing down some painted 6mm GHQ world war 2 mini's (german's vs USA or Russians) with some nice miniature rules....however...

The thought of making 3d terrain makes me shudder. I'm too lazy and have zero creative talent

and

Solo gaming is for PC's, right? How does one justify playing a mini's game solo?

There aren't many groups in my area that play and the ones that are around play a set of rules I don't like (Flames of War)

So....anyone here play a solo mini's game? How did you make your terrain? Did you buy it? What about game boards? (ASL boards perhaps?)

Anyways....interested to see if anyone here has any experience in this.

Bit of serendipity.  I was just reading on the Wings of Glory forum this morning and a guy has started a new website focusing on solo rules for minis games.

I know some of the guys who play Bolt Action use the rules and scenarios from the boardgame Ambush! to play solo.

Two Hour Wargames includes solo rules for their games.

The guys I used to play 6mm Squad Leader with used the playing card system from The Sword and the Flame rules for solo play.

You might also want to have a look at this guy's blog for some solo tips.

Easiest terrain is a green sheet / blanket w some books underneath it and then sprinkle around some cardboard bldgs/trees (which you can find easily online)

that said, these terrain tiles are AWESOME and totally worth the investment

Those are pretty cool for a great price. If I were tempted to fall down the rabbit hole of miniatures, those would definitely be tempting!
