OK Gents it's that time of year again. The Groghead Fantasy Football leagues are now open and the invites were sent out to the managers of last years teams.
Rookie League - Auto Draft.
If you do not want to play this year just ignore the invite, but a message here would be nice so either Metaldog or myself can delete your team and a new manager can join take your place.
Pro League - Keeper League and Live Draft tentatively looking at an August 30th or September 6th draft date.
Same as above if you don't want to play just say so here and we will open your team to the first available manager. Right now we are at 8 teams and can expand to 12 if we have Grogheads interested in joining the league, but we need to expand by even numbers.
I'll give managers from last year a couple of weeks to decide if they want to play. If a team in the Rookie league is not renewed, MD or I will delete the team and post the join URL here for anyone to join the league. The Pro League will get a little more time to decide and then MD and I will open up the league to new managers or an expansion of teams.
I don't remember all of the details from last year but I believe we kept 2 players and the moved up one draft slot from the previous year. So a player drafted in the 4th round would take your 3rd round selection this year. No 2 players can be selected in the same round unless some sort of crazy trade is involved.
Good luck and Go....

Sticky Please.
Sweet! Both leagues re-entered.
I can't remember how to look up the previous year's draft so I can figure out who would cost me what picks to keep.
I suck at this and usually give up mid-season because my team is terrible.
...okay, my team is usually terrible because I totally forget to set my line-ups. I hardly ever watch football anymore. :(
Hover over the draft tab at the top of the screen and it'll give you a drop down menu. At the very bottom is last years draft which shows you the drafts for all players and teams.

So does this mean you are in and are going to manage a shitty team or your out and give up on your shit team and the fun? :D
I can only join with my shitty Pro League team and not in the Rookie League, apparently. I only received an invite for the Pro League. Not that it matters, I'll just keep it at this unless you need warm bodies in the other one.
Well let me look at the Rookie league. It might not have sent out invites.
It said invites went out and 3 managers already joined. Maybe it got lost in the intrawebs near Albuquerque.
It just popped up - thanks.
I hardly ever check that email as it's pretty much a spam-fest.
Woot! It's only fitting that fantasy sports messages go to the same email as your penis enhancement emails!
RON JEREMY PROMISED ME THOSE THINGS WORK.
He was just being a dick.
If I had an elephant trunk like that, I'd let it guide me to another line of work.
...wait, how the fuck did we get to this from fantasy football?
GROGHEADDSSSS!!!

I'm in for both and looking forward to another season of narrow losses and my best performers being on the bench when I need them most. O0
I'm in. Hopefully my keepers won't be suspended like last year. AP I'm talking to you!!!!!
If there is room I'd like to join the Pro League.

No issue with you joining Kushan. We are waiting on two managers to renew from last year, so if one doesn't you'll be promoted to manage that team. If both players return, then we'll need a second manager to join. We need even number of teams for the league to draft. I hope this all makes sense.
Completely understandable. We have the same issues with our office league.
Signed up for both my teams today. Took the opportunity to get in to a mock draft, too. Below is my team and the round by round picks of my opponents. I picked 7th out of 10.

If you choose a player who you didn't draft last year as a keeper what round pick does it cost you?
It costs one round up from where he was selected last year. So a 4th round is a 3d round or a 8th round is a 7th round pick.

What if they were not drafted but were picked up during the season?
I would suspect your last round pick then.
I'd have to look at last year's thread, but I think we used some delicious concoction of previous year's draft average in yahoo drafts. And to be honest, I don't think anyone had a keeper that they hadn't drafted the previous year.

There are a number of players who ended up on rosters that you might want to keep on the cheap. Nobody drafted Odell Beckham, Justin Forsett or Ben Rothlisburger for example.

TOM BRADY IS GOD!!!
Sorry. I thought that was the party line for ALL New Englanders.
OK. We need a second manager for the Pro League if Kushan is to get into the league.

If Bill is so awesome, how come the Browns never made it to the Super Bowl under his amazing powers?

Ironically that describes Romo too. He just cannot overcome his own suckatude. :P
Yup it's football season alright and I finally got in a Romo jab.
If you see something like this happening this season Steelie...

Just remember to yell at Garrett that Romo is going to botch the snap or throw an interception so the plea for silent is unnecessary. Well unless it's to pay your respects to another failed Cowboy campaign.
Hahaha, you've just been waiting for your moment. Your Romo man-crush is....disturbing ^-^
Cowboys to the playoffs....before they implode.
I'm drafting Romo this year. Most likely in the 1st or 10th round. I just haven't decided yet.
You should do that <Rubs hands together and laughs maniacally>
We need 1 or 3 more Rookie League Managers to set the auto draft.

Need to accept the Pro Leauge Invite.
If we have 1 more person interested in the Pro League, post here and send me a PM with an email address. This will allow Kushan to join along with you as the Grogheads Pro League expansion team managers.
Con if you are managing again this season in the Pro League please accept the renew team invite, if not just let me know.
We still need 1 manager for the rookie league.
How does the 5th or 6th of September work for all the pro league managers? I'm thinking we do 7 EST draft time.
My offline draft is one of those two days. Not sure which, and I think it's earlier than 7, but, I'll fill you in when I know.

Either works for me.
I shall be busy on the 6th with board games and booze. 5th is a better day for me. :coolsmiley:
I'm going to auto draft as usual. Give me an excuse :)
OK sorry for the delay too busy hitting the reload button on deflategate news like a tweaked hamster on meth
I have accepted and should be all set. How many keepers do we get to keep?
Con
2 keepers. Remember I'll assign them to the pick in the round prior to the round selected last year.
Did we figure out what we're doing about keeping guys who weren't drafted last year? I'm considering hanging on to Forsett, but it depends on what it would cost me...
For anyone interested, I did another mock draft tonight. I picked 8 out of 12. The scoring was the same as ours. I'm not super crazy about my Wide Receivers, but, I think I have quality depth.

OK. I'm getting off my ass this week at some point and setting up the Pro League Draft. It'll be 5 SEP at 1900, if I can reserve the slot.
Draft is set for 5 September at 1900 so set your clocks! The keeper selection is cut off on 3 September. Undrafted players will be slotted in the projected draft round since their is no real good way to deal with them. So Forsett would be a 3rd round selection.
MD I reassigned your co-commish roles.
I need everyone to list your keepers here please. I'm having trouble seeing them for some reason.

So if the ADP is given as 43.9 is that a 4th or 5th round pick? Are we using a 10 team round or a 8 team round?
MD, you should totally do this:

He does that every year.
Didn't I win one of these things last year? Maybe it was the year before...
And I will take Eddie Lacy, please, sir.
MD if you get a chance can you look to see if you see the keepers in the league on other teams? I KNOW I did it last year, but I cannot seem to remember how I did it.
I'm keeping Justin Forsett and Alshon Jeffery.
I'm keeping Mike Evans and maybe Big Ben. It depends on what round he costs me, 3rd or 4th. Are we figuring ADP on an 8 team league or a 10 team league?
Did you draft Ben last year? If so, then he will cost you one round ahead of where you drafted him. Otherwise it'll be based simply on the average round selected in similar leagues on yahoo.
Doesn't matter who I keep. They'll just get hurt.
Case in point, I selected Arian Foster as a keeper. And what happens? The Ickey Woods Syndrome. It's dogged me for friggin' years.

I picked him up as a FA. I think his ADP is 43.something on the pre-draft rankings but that is for standard 10 team leagues. We have 8 teams so 43 ADP would be a 5th rounder pick in our league. Would I lose a 4th rounder if I kept him?
Ben's average round is 5.2, so he would be assigned to your 5th round selection.
I am keeping Matt Ryan and Stephen Gostkowski

Gentlemen just make sure on the keepers block you only check those players you've posted here. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to edit teams on the 4th and 5th before draft to ensure only 2 players are kept.

Ben's average round is 5.2, so he would be assigned to your 5th round selection.
Then he would be my other keeper.
I'll keep Aaron Rodgers and...God help me, Arian Foster. It's not like I have a wealth of talent to choose from anyway, so what the hell.

Well both Rodgers and Foster are 1st round picks for you so.....the beard or the injury prone?
The beard. If I have to choose between the two, the beard.
So I gotta go back in and select someone besides Arian? What if I don't want to? None of them are really calling my name right now. (Thank goodness.)
Nope you don't have to choose anyone, but yes two is the maximum number you can keep.
Gah, Luck, Dez or Odell Beckham, Jr........
Bison, could you tell me what draft choice each would cost me?
I'll look this evening when I get home steelie.

If you hover over the draft tab, you will see an option for last years draft. That will tell you what round you selected your players and then you just drop them down one round and that is the slot they will be assigned to this year.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks! But is it drop down or drop up? I thought a 2nd last year became a 1st this year? Or am I ass-backwards?

Hell, I had these guys and Lynch too and STILL managed to limp along the entire season, barely squeezing into the playoffs. Not sure it even matters lol!
Beckham was a free agent pick up. How did we decide that worked?
And I see there are nine teams in the rookie league. Truthfully, I'd rather just play in the Pro League this year but I didn't want to leave a hole in the league. Soooo.......is there a 10th team coming and would it hurt any feelings if I just played in the Pro?
I should be able to just pull your team out from the Rookie League Steelie.
Luck - 2nd Round
Dez - 1st Round
O'Dell - 1st Round
The way non-drafted players works in our league is I just think of them as free agent signings, so they go into the draft round where they are averaging on Yahoo drafts. Not perfect but it's the only way that I can think of that assigns them fair market value as a "free agent" pick up.
I'll keep Beckham and Luck, Bison. And yes, please drop me from the Rookie League if that won't cause problems for everyone.
Looks like Banzai needs to set his two players to keeper status and just need KBYZs keeper updates and we are good to go for the live draft.
I already selected the two keepers and saved it. Did it a long while ago. What am I missing?
Not sure brother. Just double check to make sure it saved. I can see everyone except you and alphabet.
I hadn't realized that I had Calvin Johnson, too. So, along with Eddie Lacy, I will keep Megatron.
Took place in another mock draft this morning. 12 teams. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF and 6 Bench. I drafted 2nd. I got a lot of 'same' type receivers, and beyond Mike Evans, there's not a 'sure' thing among them. There's a lot of value there, though.

3rd mock draft. Same as before, but picking 5th this time. Figured I should at least take a look at what each general area (top, middle, bottom) looks like. There's some picks I don't like. DeSean Jackson...who's going to throw him the fucking ball?! LeGarrette Blount...I like him in an offense that's going to give him 20 touches every week. So, just about any offense EXCEPT NE's! I picked up Woodhead in that spot as I saw the SD/SEA game yesterday and SD has several packages for Woodhead and he always seemed to make something happen when he was on the field. WR is deep. And I got the three deep(er) guys that I like this year, John Brown, Kendall Wright and Marvin Jones. Got stepped in front of on a lot of guys and had to settle for different players or positions. It's how I ended up with Andy Dalton. Had Palmer AND Bradford picked in front of me!

All of these mock drafts will have no impact on ours since they don't take into account the keeper players and my selection Janikowski in round 1 and Vick in round 2 channeling my inner-Al.
I do it for me to see where I can expect to see certain players. The fact that you choose to make no use of my hard work to defeat me, is your own business :P
Yes....channeling the facts....back to back titles.....hmmm....
Is this where I point out that I won the other league?

You mean the league that you have no actual involvement in the selection of players since Yahoo! does it for you? Fine. I still don't see how it relates. :P
A win is still a win. And maybe if the Vikings let Yahoo pick for them, they'd win a Super Bowl.
The Vikings winning the Superbowl is one of the first battles of Ragnarok.
LOL! You win. I can't top that :)
Hey dog need you to make Johnson a keeper. He's slotted in your 1st round pick.
Quote from: MetalDog on August 29, 2015, 09:16:57 AM
I hadn't realized that I had Calvin Johnson, too. So, along with Eddie Lacy, I will keep Megatron.
I did that already online. Is it not showing on my team?
Nope. Sometimes there is a lag before the keeper symbol shows up, but you might want to check just to make sure your new keeper is saved.
Also when you get a chance look to see if you have access to commissioner rights. There are a couple of scoring changes I want to look at and discuss on draft night with those who are on the voice chat through Steam.
I have Commish rights for the Pro, not the Rookie. I set the keepers for me again.
OK I've set everyone's keepers to the draft.
Con I had to adjust your keepers based on what you placed here. You had three players as keepers and Matt Ryan wasn't one of them. I've adjusted your keepers to Matt Ryan and that Gostkowski. If this is incorrect, I'll need to know before Saturday afternoon.
KBYZ - I saw your keepers in the league not sure why not updating. Gronkowski - 5th Round and Charles - 1st round
Bison, I'm seeing with both leagues that it's telling us there has to be 12 teams in order to start the draft. Haven't looked for how to fix that. Don't have time at the moment.
No it''s the max size for a league to draft. You HAVE to have an even number of teams.
Rookie League - I'll be hitting the ready to draft button tomorrow evening, so I'd expect teams to be drafted no later than Monday. Sometimes it takes longer if Yahoo is swamped, but that's a pretty rare event. Anyway set your draft rankings before tomorrow evening. I'm not even sure anyone reads this thread for the rookie league outside of some Canadian and elephant fetish boy.
Pro League - Every thing is set to go for the live draft to kick off at 7 PM Central on 5 September. That's tomorrow and I'm sorry I didn't realize it was a holiday weekend.
^Just means there will be drunken picks. Could liven things up quite a bit! O0
I'm debating the merits of letting autodraft select my team as opposed to me screwing it up directly.
Or play a drinking game as you draft....start off with two shots, then take a shot every pick >:D
Alternatively, take a shot everytime a Cowboy is drafted O0
It must be the weekend, given that my last two posts have mentioned drinking! Toonces should draft a team!

That's my philosophy too, can't blame yourself for picks you didn't make. And after all, aren't the rankings made by the 'experts'? They couldn't possibly be wrong right? :)
You'd miss out on metal dog bragging about his every pick.
I honestly think drafting is the best part of a keeper league.
Oh the drafting part IS indeed the best time of the year. So much potential, so many possibilities, so few inklings into potential disasters...
But in all honesty, 'live' drafts with friends is the best way to go. I haven't done one of those in 15+ years, but that's always the best way to do it, with a draft board and everything.
Ditto to the last two posts. I love to draft. Playing Owner/GM is the fun part.
I'm just generally tired of sucking at Fantasy Football. I've played since 1988 and gone to a championship one time. Been close many times, but the other guy always does better, or my team's injuries become ridiculous and unmanageable.
Then again - I've never gone whole hog into research, except back in the day when Cliff Charpentier was pretty much the only source for Fantasy Football information. Since then some guys go nuts on the research, and I just can't motivate myself to get that deeply into the numbers, especially when chance and luck factors into it so heavily (at least, for me).

I am that guy that puts a lot of effort in to research. It's paid off many times over the years. Literally and figuratively.

Whatever buttercup. As long as you fulfill your promise and take ROMO!!! with your available pick it'll be ok.
If I take Romo and crush you, what does that mean?
I had Winston Jamison as a QB.
If that's the case, every other QB in the league must be on IR. ;)

8pm is right in the middle of the nightly wrestling match that involves putting 4 year old twin boys to bed
Con
Good Luck refereeing that match!
So far I am keeping ahead but barely....I am terrified to think how they are going to be able to gang up on me in a couple of years. We did have a big milestone last week I brought them tot he local wargaming and model hobby store. They were suitably impressed and wanted to have of course the most expensive things there!
Con
Mine are only 5 months old. I'm just happy when they sleep at the same time for more then 3 hours at a stretch....but I do have a heck of a wargame collection waiting to play with them get older.

Heh if its twins you have well I can tell you what the future holds! To be honest I dont even remember much of when they were still babies much of it was a sleep walking haze. All the photos of me holding them I look disheveled red eyed and unshaven. But basically everything they tell you about twins is true. We couldn't even complain since one of my sister in laws had triplets!
Con
I no longer have sympathy for people who are only capable of producing single babies now. Such underachievers! But to be honest, I'd cry myself to sleep every night if it were triplets.
Rookie League draft is set and is in cue for the draft to happen.
Pro League is ready for tonight's festivities. I'm going roller skating this afternoon so there is a possibility I'm in the hospital getting a broken bone treated if for some reason the draft room is not open when you all check.
JUST REMEMBER THE DRAFT STARTS AT 7. It's on an auto timer that I cannot change. The room will be open about 15 minutes before the start of the draft. I'll open up a steam chat prior to that too. Last year we, Metal and I, had a lot of fun just bullshiting through out the draft.
That we did :) O0 Looking forward to getting our rosters complete tonight!
I prepped my ass off last year and finished 5th. With the move, I've had almost zero time to prep this year so look for me to finally take the trophy from Bison ::)
The Bison ownership has declared this a rebuilding year.
7:00...what? CST? EST?
Guess I could roll over there and find out...
Central. I'm opening up the Steam chat in a few minutes. Send me a tell on Steam if you want an invite.
Yahoo Draft Room is open.
ROMO FTW!!!!!!
Bison, I don't know if you can still change it, but, I just looked at the schedules for a couple of teams in the Pro League. You will play two or three teams, three times each and then one against the guys in the other division. Or something like that. Seems mighty unfair to play someone three times in a season.
Huh...I'll have to look at it, but I think it sort of randomizes the schedule. I know it won't be a 2 game series for every opponent due to the number of weeks.
I'll have to look at it. It'll be a schedule I'll have to create. I think the way it was done is 3 X Division and 1 X Non-Division for 13 games. Then I hit the reschedule button and it just randomized the schedule completely working still within the 3 vs 1 team and 1 game vs 1 another team concept.
It's too late to think about it right now but I'll do it sometime this weekend.
The problem is we can't take a Bye Week ;) It's 2 x your division = 6 and 2 x the other division = 8. One too many games for our 13 week season, but, 3 x your division and 1 x the other just seems wrong. Best I can come up with is 2 x your division and 2 x the other - a random team from the other division. Not satisfactory, but, what else is there?
Was a lot of fun, even though I didn't get home until it was the 4th or 5th round.
Sad Romo was still available
LEAVE MY MAN ALONE!
This is why I auto-draft. According to the experts I had the best draft in the pro league. In one's I have actually done live a C- is considered an amazing success for me!
I hope those experts are right :)
QuoteDraft Summary
Well, a bad draft position led to an even worse draft. Picking fifth overall, Wild E's Coyotes is projected to land in eighth place in Grogheads Pro League with a record of 3-10-0 (1,519 points). They used a conservative plan early to fill out their lineup, selecting QB Aaron Rodgers (12th overall), RBs C.J. Anderson (5th) and Frank Gore (28th), and WRs Jordan Matthews (21st) and DeSean Jackson (37th). They built the worst group of WRs in the league, as they have Keenan Allen, Matthews, Jackson, and Anquan Boldin for their rotation.
I have no doubt they're right. But must they be so harsh? Jeez.
The WORST group of WRs...hahaha...harsh, man, harsh!

Why are you fucking winking at me? Good grief...you picked up Romo for that shit.
It'll end up being 6 games versus Division and 7 versus non-Division. Just need to draft up a schedule so I set it up.
The Rookie League needs a schedule revamp, too. I'll have time to do it for you later today, if you want ;)
How does a balanced approach net me a B-. I think Ryan is a good middle of the road QB Atlanta is going to throw more than they run and I took Bridgewater as a sleeper if the Vikings take off. Bloody experts all picked Brady to be serving 4 game suspension this week as well so what do they know! :))
QuoteBaconExplosion isn't the best team in the league, but they aren't the worst, and there is something to be said for that. After selecting fourth overall, they are projected to finish in fifth in Grogheads Pro League at 5-8-0 (1,551 points). They went with a balanced approach early, selecting QB Matt Ryan (36th overall), RB Le'Veon Bell (4th), WR Brandin Cooks (20th), and TE Jimmy Graham (13th) within the first five rounds. They landed the lowest-scoring QB combo in the league, as they have Ryan and Teddy Bridgewater on the roster.
Schedule is set. Everyone plays conference rivals twice and plays 3 non-conference teams twice and 1 non-conference team once. It adds up to 13 games.
Metal if you want to do the rookie league I'm fine with it, but I'm not going to mess around with the schedule.
I'll get it tonight or tomorrow.
Cool beans. It isn't hard I just had other matters to attend to this evening. Thanks man.
My pleasure. And done :)
Damn it I knew I should have started the cheater Brady.
Quite a match up last night - the Cheater vs. the Rapist.

It's never a good fantasy football week when you are hoping for your kicker to pull out the victory. :D Clearly mine did not live up to this hope...
While I might be having a crap year at least I didnt draft Romo!
I am sure Romo has taught Brandon Weedon all the ways to fumble in crucial moments so the Cowboys will remain in shaky palsied tremulous hands

And team Bison has definitely thrown in the towel already this season. They are playing like the late 70's Buccaneers.

Didn't you pose for that pic on the helmet, Bison? ;)
I tried but I didn't have the right je ne sais quoi, so they replaced me with Metaldog.
^snicker ;D
If I remember correctly, three years after forming, and a disastrous 0-16 start, the Buccaneers played in the NFC Championship game in 1979. And they still have one more Super Bowl win than the Vike-queens.
Or the Bengals, Browns, Titans, Texans.
Vikings fans measure success in terms of heart breaking losses in conference championships and the super bowl. We have that metric down in spades.
Nature abhors a vacuum, but, it's not a niche I would want to fill.
Even the Yahoo press releases are bashing Team Bison's pathetic performance.
BaconExplosion got 24.10 points from Matt Ryan and 19.20 from Le'Veon Bell, annihilating Bison 126.50 to 85.02. "You play to win the game. Hello! You play to win the game." Someone please tell this to Bison, who is currently winless.
The annihilating part was a bit harsh yo.
So how does my starting wide receiver corp, consisting of Odell Beckham, Jr, Randall Cobb and Emmanuel Sanders, manage to score only 15 points combined! I mean, damn.....was Ryan Mallett throwing to all three of them?!?! :uglystupid2:
I dodged Beckham and Cobb in two other leagues. Sorry you had to go down, but, I needed the W. ;)
I'm just whinin'. Seems like offensive production is scarce all across the league this week. No grog team is projected to break 100 points, when last week the same number of points wouldn't have won every matchup. I'm just whistlin' past the football graveyard ::)
I made a bunch of moves this week and it's payoff resulted in my first victory of the season. Got to love it when a mediocre team comes together.
Both of my teams have humiliated me with their pitiful performances. There will be changes. Oh, there will be changes.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My team sucks!
Says every Vikings fan EVER!
Holy crap, what a game. Lost by .28 points. I think that is the closest one I've ever been in.

The first game we played was decided by 4 points. We seem to be pretty evenly matched. Hopefully I get one more chance!

Age will never catch him because he is wearing ridiculously comfortable Ugs
I don't think there is anyone I would keep either given the price to keep them.
I'll likely keep Beckham, but Luck has sat on my bench for half this season and was outplayed by my "backup" QB Cam Newton, so he's a goner.
My team was so putrid that I may decide to simply nuke it from orbit and start over. Ugh.
Damn Steelie your team put up the points today.

I hope I saved something for next week!!!
I was in three semifinals this week and I lost all three. Cam Newton got me twice and a combo of Eli/Demaryius/Doug Baldwin wiped me out in the other. I salute all of you who steamrolled me today. May you lose by a 100 next week! ;)
Hmmmm, so last week my Gravediggers were the perfect storm.....all my starters seemed to be playing against patsies, like the Browns, and boom....167 points.
This week, my all-star wide receiver is suspended....my certain league MVP Quarterback probably won't play the entire game, nor will his Pro Bowl TE, my Rookie of the Year RB is playing against the NFL's best run defense, and my back-ups are playing the likes of New England, Green Bay or Seattle.
Yeah, should be a close championship game. Or at least I hope I can keep it close!!! Good luck, Ligers!
Congrats to the Ligers, who thoroughly demolished my Gravediggers tonight for the championship and beat me two out of three of games this season. A well deserved championship! Hoped to give you a better game, but it wasn't in the cards today. Congrats for a season well played.
Congrats Ligers! Another excellent season in the books.
Congrats to the Ligers!
Thank you very much gentlemen. It was a fun season and Grave put up a valiant effort. I look forward to next season. O0
I do, too. As one of you unfortunates dropped Le'Veon Bell and I had the foresight to put him on my bench.
I'm hoping to expand the pro league next season by two mangers. As we had one grog head who wants to manage a team, but we need an even number of teams per the yahoo rules.
Ten is always better than eight in FF. Makes for less superstar rosters. I mean, I had Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Calvin Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins and Alshon Jeffery. All five are WR1's for their teams except Bryant. And he can put up WR1 numbers at any time. And I know Megatron and Jeffery didn't perform up to spec this year, but, that's a ridiculous amount of talent on one team.
The two areas that get hit hardest by expanding the league are TE and RB. The TE is an easy enough fix by making the TE spot a TE/WR/RB type slot. The RB is much harder. There are fewer featured backs and more platoon backfields now and injuries expose the level of talent difference between a starter and a backup running back.
And congrats also to Grim Reaper who is this year's Rookie League Champion.
Something I'm not sure everyone realizes is, this game is about floor. If the prediction for your player is 5 points for that week, a successful week is if he makes 5 points. Anything over is gravy. And you want to have as many guys on your team that make their weekly floor as possible. In your starting lineup for sure, but on your bench, too. The other thing is to play matchups. If Daily Fantasy Sports has taught me anything, it's look at the matchups. A lot of casual fans missed on Kirk Cousins or Blake Bortles performances this past weekend. But, based on the matchup, both were primed for big games. Anyways, I think the RB position will come down to a handful of backs being counted on every year and value on the remainder based on projected usage that season/period of time/week. THAT'S why Le'Veon Bell is such a good bet. Awesome runner on a team that uses him often.
And a hearty congratulations to Grim Reaper, too!
Well a bigger league places much more emphasis on using your bench effectively rather than as a bye week and injury emergency replacement pool.

I would be in favor of league expansion if you get the bodies and we go with the TE slot adjustment. I rode the waiver wires and free agents as hard as anyone and while that's nice to have available, I feel that a larger league adds to the challenge.
And Dawg, you're exactly right....it's all about the matchups. Makes for some tense decisions when you're considering leaving a "better" player on the bench because of a bad matchup. Heh, the sad thing about my part in the championship game yesterday? You can add my entire bench production to my total and I still would have lost 8)
I'd actually considered changing the TE slot this season, but with this few of players I felt it adds a level of challenging frustration.

^Been there. HATE that! ;)
I've played in 10 to 12 man leagues most of the time I've played this game. TE has always been a position on our rosters. Yeah, it sucks if you're the guy that doesn't have Gronk, but, Tyler Eifert leads TE's with 12. Jordan Reed is on FIRE and is tied or ahead of Eifert and Gronk for major stats leads. Gary Barnidge has been eminently serviceable for Cleveland. Greg Olsen is Newton's favorite target. Travis Kelce, Austin Sefarian Jenkins, Zach Ertz. All had week winning point totals for owners. That's eight guys right there. And that doesn't count Julius Thomas season or Martellus Bennet. That makes 10.
TE is a hit or miss position. There are some favorite targets, but it really comes done to the QB. Brady loves to throw to TE for TDs even if it's not Gronkowski. Romeo loves TEs too, but this is starting to get uncomfortable to elaborate on any further.
All positions are hit or miss. TE just seems more so, due to the paucity at the top. The position should be kept. QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, FLEX, K, DEF. That's a typical FF lineup. And unfortunately, 4 Pts for a QB Passing TD and .5 Point Per Reception is standard, too.

That's a pretty fair position count. In other leagues I've played in there's usually 1 less WR slot but everything else is the same.
On a side note: If we can get the league up to 10 players, what do you guys think about contributing $5 each to a winner's pot? It would allow the winner to pick up a decent groggy game (or 10 bad ones) and wouldn't break the bank. Just a though.
If we go .5 PPR, then 2 WR spots and a Flex I think would be sufficient.
We've discussed a prize of some sort in the past, so I'm game if everyone else is good with it. We'd just need to figure out how to do it without it being a hassle.
Dawg makes a good point on the TE position and thinking it through, I'm not too keen on cutting a WR slot. I view TE's like I do kickers....a mediocre one probably won't screw you too badly and a good one is bonus points. Overall I think we have a good balance with 3 WRs, 2 RB and a TE, plus it reflects the average NFL lineup well.
And I would kick in a few bucks if that's what the league wanted. Probably the easiest way would be to Paypal the commish to hold the funds. Might be enough to pick up a prize on Steam.
Yes I'd originally picked the lineup based on a traditional team set. 2 RB (feature and 3d down), 3 WR (#1 and #2 plus a slot) and the TE. I like the TE slot too, but its the one position that the talent can get diluted pretty quick in a bigger league.
There's one TE I would hold above all others, Gronk. Everyone else is just varying degrees of useful. So, everyone is pretty much in the same boat. That being the case, keep it. I know I'd rather have Le'Veon Bell than Isaiah Crowell but you're not going to outlaw RB's are you? And I'm in on the fiver. Just let me know where and how to send it.
Congrats to the winners! I shall have my sorry team lined up and beaten to death with rifles. They aren't worth bullets.
I'm totally down for roster changes, league expansion and cash money next year.

Thanks! Maybe time to try the pro league now:)
Congrats Ligers. Well done.
