It's a good option, better than the F35. I would prefer drones for patrol, strikes. Supplemented with new F16s which seem to be the most bang for the buck.

Bang for the buck should be our goal.

Similar to the Humvee thread, which corporation has more friends on Parliament Hill? Boeing or Lockheed Martin?

I'd love to see us go the Super Hornet route, but I suspect the current gov't is fixated on the F-35.... :uglystupid2:

Here is an interesting little peice I found in the Canadian Military Journal:

I made this call years ago.... now we are going to throw 400 million at the existing fleet for what? 5 more years of service???

How many Super Hornets could we buy with that?

Although I like the idea of a whole shit pile of F35s with VSTOL up in the arctic archipeligo. Build a whole crap piule of small strips and play guess where they are now Ivan.

I would rather play the same game with 500 drones, all with 24 hr loiter when needed.

So long as we do not follow USAF rules for piloting drones.

But we wouldn't need 500.

Things are good Amigo - thanks for asking! The inability to peruse the site while on my "breaks" at work kinda curtailed my activities -Thank the Grogs we now have access once again :notworthy: . In the evenings, I find family priorities (aging parents,etc...) to be a real time consumer. I have also stuffed about two years of Warhammer 40K reading and guitar buying/playing in there.

Once I retire - I'm hoping to have the balance just right !

Retirement is starting to be a little more real... little more than 3 years to go. Starting to look at really expensive fishing boats....

I am thinking that we'll go with the Super H, regardless, play the insulted suitor and get Boeing to sweeten the deal.....

updated engines and conformal fuel tanks = big win

That's what I'm thinking too. Hard to see you guys totally passing on the SH, but I can see you getting a better deal out of it. Of course, the timeline probably just moved out to the 2050s.
