In my Media & Culture class one of the things we talk about were films that captured a certain zeitgeist, and how there hasn't been a great one for the Millennials they way there were for Generations X and Y.  As an example, we trace the arc of Generation X through high school in 4 movies...

Freshman year: Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Sophomore year: Sixteen Candles
Junior Year: The Breakfast Club
Senior Year:  Say Anything

There's a few interlopers that want to insert Heathers or Pretty in Pink or The Wild Life or Some Kind of Wonderful, but they're wrong ;)

Generation Y's movies were more post-high school, with things like Reality Bites and 200 Cigarettes as the real 'slice of life' movies for them.

I just got old enough to take a girl to the movies when "Jaws" came out and scared them all so bad, none of them would go.
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.
