Possibly the same here.  Kicked off the weekend with PostScriptum.  Accidently became a very bad section leader (I took over when the section leader was killed and made a somewhat over-audacious penetration that promoted my poor section to suggest that I just uninstall the game), but we won anyway, storming Veghel as the 101st Airborne.  I even killed a few Germans (re-starters luck).
About to take a small vacation -- back to being a regular here in a week or two.

My parents, in their early 80's, have driven from Illinois to Texas to get a bit of relief from winter and visit for the weekend so not much more than a PBEM file or two.

Other than DCS, this weekend will be another wildcard. I was almost certainly going to get Crackdown 3, but it's getting hammered in initial reviews. I'm also teetering on whether to sign up for Origins Premium access. It's $100 for the year, but you get access to a full catalog of games and early access to all the big releases, like Anthem. Seems like it's a good value if you were going to buy at least 2 EA games in the year...but, you know. It is still EA.

While I did get some trigger time in the Division 2 Beta this past weekend (I swear, both times now that they schedule tests, I had to be out of town the majority of the weekend), it wasn't enough, so it's back to NYC in The Division so I can hopefully grind out two to three more Shields so I can get cool character swaggy stuff for onscreen Div 2 character cosmetics prior to it dropping next month

Had to take a business trip.

Worked in a visit to the Cowpens Battlefield in South Carolina yesterday.  Took a bunch of pictures which hopefully came out.  Will write up the battle and my pictures on my blog eventually.

Around meetings I'll be working on my Dungeon Crawl Classics characters for the scenario I'm running at MACE West.

Been playing this one as the Germans (with Danes, Dutch, Balts, and Norwegians of the III SS Panzer Korps lending a hand) for nearly a month.  I believe this has to be one of the best TOAW scenarios ever.

Only problem is that each turn against the AI takes a solid hour (and probably longer for players better and more careful than me).  So at the rate I'm going (4-5 turns a week), it will likely be early summer before I am done.

Back home in Fredericksburg VA for a funeral. No gaming but I never miss an opportunity to see the Chancellorsville/wilderness battlefield as well as Fredericksburg. My moms property in Falmouth is in Boscobel farms which is where Sickle's III corps was encamped from December '62 to June '63. Always finding buttons and Minie balls

Warframe because it's the best game ever - looking forward to the melee 3.0 rework!
World of Warships I just can't stop playing it
Plants vs Zombies still one of the best tower defense games ever
Project Hospital if I get around to it - but seeing as I now have five days off in a row I probably will :P

Welp...broke down and got Anthem. Initial reviews of the full release have been much more positive then the demo and the public beta. I'll look forward to reporting my findings to the crew.

From my experience, it won't take you long. It's a nice cinematic shooter game, like Shogo Mobile Armored Division (except lottts more modern of course).

That being said, don't be surprised if you don't really feel like you're running around in a giant robot (much as with Shogo). Not least because more than half the time you won't be running around in a giant robot (much as with Shogo). Heck, there's only one real "Prepare for Titanfall" moment, although appropriately that's the final battle.

I have had EA Premiere since back in last August....totally think it's worth if it you plan to play a couple EA games a year.  Currently downloading Anthem myself, but my connection is so slow likely won't be done until late tonight/tomorrow:)

Whoah! Flashback! That song video first popped up on Nightflight (USA network?) right about the time Adrian Belew's Big electric Cat video also premiered. Around 1982 maybe?

I just picked up Metro Exodus for the PS4 today, so I'm eager to play it this weekend.

However, playing the new Metro game might be problematic due to my girlfriend currently playing Claire Redfield's story in Resident Evil Remake. I might have to conduct an organized retreat to one of my PC wargames--although it is highly entertaining watching someone play RE2 Remake.

Saboteur and Brothers in Arms I've put aside until I get back in to a WWII mood again.

Is Shogo a solid game? I've heard that Titanfall 2 is a short game...gonna start a Battlefleet Gothic campaign too.

I just didn't want to jump in to WH40k whole hog...yet. Wanna savor Mechanicus and Sanctus Reach.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. The actual gameplay, that is...the story and the universe haven't really grabbed me yet, but the combat is very enjoyable. I like mixing fast paced ground combat with the flight mechanics and the weapons are all very satisfying to use. It sort of reminds me of a combination of Destiny and maybe a mass effect game. Lots of loot and customization. Tons of guns that you can equip or salvage to craft new parts and weapons and a lot of customization options for your javelins.

So far I've been going on private expeditions, but the javelins each seem specialized for the most part so I can see squad play being important as the challenge ramps up and enemies get harder. For my first new javelin I picked the colossus. The heavy suit...it just matches my play style best. I'll unlock a new one at level 8...I'm a level 4 right now.

Anyway, I'll play a lot of this over the weekend, so I'll keep posting impressions.

Anthem definitely is very nice looking.....still trying to come to grasps with all the controls and flying, but certainly has been fun so far.  In the end not sure if this will be my type of game where I will play a ton, more so because I tend to suck at them, but I will keep pressing on.

Thought I could sneak that in without anyone noticing.  I think Bob banned me for singing that in this thread though!

Big Electric Cat?  I've never heard that one and I thought I knew all songs '80s.  Just checked out the video on YouTube.

Is Shogo a solid game? I've heard that Titanfall 2 is a short game...

It's by Monolith, so the short answer is "yes". ;) I've beaten it at least twice, so it isn't terribly long either. The comparisons between the two games, in how they play and their style, start early and go long. I'd say the main playstyle difference is that in Titanfall, the robot interacts more independently. In Shogo it's purely a suit to be put on at special times, which effectively switches out the scale of the game maps and substitutes a different suite of weapons most of which are standard 1st/3rd person shooter tropes anyway. Also, wall-running is a main component of Titanfall, and I don't recall its bots transforming; although on the other hand again, the vehicle mode in Shogo is totally undeveloped: it simply gives you a slightly faster way to travel the map, without any way to defend yourself, and with more chance of hanging up on the terrain. ;)

Shogo is reeaaallllllyyy primitive compared to... well, even compared to a lot of things released around the same time or prior (1998). I wouldn't put it up against the original Half-Life for example. At the time, Monolith was basically an indie developer.

I one thousand percent expect you'll enjoy Titanfall 2 a lot more.  O:-)

Rather than Shogo, might I recommend The Bureau: X-Com Declassified? It's on sale at Steam right now for $4. It'll probably be appreciated more by fans of the 'real' X-Com games, than otherwise, but it's a clever take on the standard X-com formula (translated over to a squad-led 3PS), and set in the 50s for lots of archaic sci-fi atmosphere.

Thanks Pratt. Yeah I looked up Shogo yesterday to discover how old it is. Oh well.

Checking out The Bureau now.
