That pic is a classic.
It's also a reminder of how long the air frame built specifically to carry the GAU-8 Avenger has been flying.
It entered service back in 1977.

Sheesh. That brings back memories.

Back in college we had a distinctly un-politically correct Cinco de Mayo party. The fraternity bought a non-functioning bug for $300, which the junkyard guy assured us, he'd gladly buy back the next day. We were quite explicit that our intention was to beat on it in an increasingly drunken fury with everything we could get.

He was happy.

Well, we spray painted it in fiesta-ish colors, took baseball bats to it, and jumped up and down on every part of it, including rolling it over.

When he arrived the next day to tow it off he couldn't come to grips with how badly it had been handled. However, true to his word, he bought it back.

It was awesome.

^Great story LB.  I can almost picture the paint job and the group of guys beating on the car with their bats.  And beer was involved too so that must have been a great time.   :)

I wonder if the junkyard guy kept the car as is to display it?

I have no earthly idea what he did with it, but I can assure you the exterior was salvageable only as scrap after we got done with it.
