It isn't a formal award. It's a proper noun, the name of a specific award.

To continue to use the example you cited above, you capitalize the names of specific awards, as opposed to general.

So Staggerwing presented me his Fuck You ( <- N.B. Capitalized) award.

Or we could simply say he presented me an award for obnoxiousness.

It isn't the formality, or reality, of the award. It's the fact that his imaginary award has a name, Fuck Off, and as such is capitalized.
