The indie developper Avalon Digital has just released a new strategy game on Steam on a pretty new topic: the 39/40 "Winter War" between the USSR and Finland

It appears to be based on the Wars Across the World engine, which was developed by folks who used to work at AGEod.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

If you play the Russians, is the objective of the game to take as heavy casualties as possible, so that you're better prepared for Winter fighting when the Huns come marching in a year or two later?

I do like games that take on a novel front.
