This story is pretty light on detail but it's the first one I saw, so I'm posting it. Will see if I can ferret out more info.

QuoteA U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II has received a medal of honor -- from Russia.

Delbert Dauenbaugh, of Rockford, recently received the Medal of Ushakov, which is given to military personnel who demonstrated courage during the defense of the Soviet Union.

All that is gold does not glitter,

Very interesting.  I couldn't find anything more on this story.  Has anyone else been able to?

"The mission of the convoys in this part of the world was to carry much needed war supplies to northern Russia to aid in the war against Germany," Dauenbaugh said. "Between the Germans and the submarines, it was a damn suicide run."

Since the guy is 90 years old, Russia might be trying to honor surviving WW2 era vets while they still can.
