I was surprised at the plot explanation being pretty well thought out for the "Shadow" in this title.

Eye of the Beholder is free at GoG.com right now.  Played the hell out of this on my Atari (I think, maybe first PC).  Graphics look like crap but it's free so why not relive some ancient memories.

Not to be outdone, Steam has Shadow Tactics on sale right now for 5.99 which is just wacky fruity for the amount of game you get. Almost free!

Fanatical has the Homeworld Remastered collection for 3.49 which is even more wacky fruity than Shadow Tactics for 5.99.

Can you avoid stealth and play the entire game in a less stealthy way? (not a fan of Stealth games)

No it is 100% a stealth game. You'll get your ass handed to you otherwise. There are multiple ways to finish missions stealthily, but if you go against enemies in the open you'll die almost immediately.

At that price I'm willing to give it a try despite having bounced off Dominions 3 pretty hard, not sure if it was the simple graphics or the depth but that prior version didn't click with me, hoping this time it will.
