I've always dismissed this as another History Channel type thing but, now in a second or third book now, make mention of Japanese killed at Normandy. Currahee! - the story of a private in the 101st airborne fighting in Normandy,  I forget the other book titles.

Was there a visiting group of Japanese in Normandy, any facts to back this up?

Web source, not known how valid it is?

I seem to remember a movie "My Way" (true story?) about a couple of Koreans who fought for the Japanese, captured in China, fought for the Russians on the Eastern front and ended up in the German army at Normandy. I wonder if the picture listed above is one of them?
