I thought it was supposed to be an independent branch. Interesting that it is still tied to the "Department of the Air Force"

Yes, I realize the new logo was probably designed by a Star Trek fan, who intended it as an honest homage to the Starfleet insignia.  But given what Starfleet is supposed to represent, and who the "Space Force" was started by, the irony/hypocrisy is enough to make one gag.
