During World War I, the british destroyer, HMS Broke, was on patrol in the Dover Straits.  During a wild, nightime melee, rammed a german torpedo boat, and was stuck.
German sailors tried to cross over onto Broke's forecastle.  The british sailors were actually issued cutlasses, and a fierce combat broke out.
The deciding moment was when some of the british began heaving steaming cups of cocoa at the boarders, breaking their spirits and driving them back.
