Title: Hoffy in the Hospital
Post by: Hofstadter on October 18, 2017, 05:03:33 AM
So I have mentioned several times I had night terrors. Pretty severe. well the worse thing happened two night ago.

I jumped through my window during one. I have four major lacerations, two on each one, one of them just missing a major artery, I lost just under a litre of blood.
I made my wayinside and layed on the floor while our tenant kept pressure on the major wound. I saw them later, skin hanging off and fat tissie
I have no idea how much damage is done, they took a cat scan and said they couldn't see anything troubling. I have been waiting for surgery for two days. Hopefully it will be done in about eight hours.

I'm absolutely terrified. I just needed to vent

Crap Hof! Hope you get better soon. Is there anything you can get/do to reduce the night terrors? Never heard of them being that bad.

On phone and zonked on oxycontin. Forgive the weird spelling.

Don't know, the only guess we have is not playing or wtching intense things before bed. It's so buggered sas watxhing Gates motel that night.
I made the mistake of looking at the wound photos my mother took. I'm Wes cravens dummy

Damn that is rough. I hope they get you fixed up soon.

I don't know much about night terrors but I assume that the episodes only last a few minutes. AFA next time, can you move something in front of your window to keep you from easily jumping through it until you regain awareness of your surroundings? A heavy piece of furniture maybe?

My older daughter had night terrors when she was younger. We cured them by taking her to the bathroom before they hit...they would come every night at the same time, around midnight. Took us 18 months to solve that problem. I have a sister who also had them as an adult. If you would like, Hof, I can ask her how she deals with them. I know she is on some kind of anti-depressants but not sure which or how much.

Hopes and prayers for your speedy recovery Hof. As a Psych Nurse I can tell you NT's are nothing to be ignored or made light of. The first step in beating them is having the courage to admit to others you're having them. Gus' point about changing your nightly routine is a good one along with what you've already mentioned doing. Professional counseling is also a consideration to identify underlying causes and plan some coping strategies. As well as venting on Grogheads. Helps the hell outta me.

So I can do most things by myself, I just need help getting out of bed, putting a shirt on and need some food cut up.

I had this dream last night that the cut up version of me was standing in the door way screaming at me. My sister also dreamed that a demon escaped me and was trying to posess her.

Stopped by the hospital and gave them a trsy of mango and cardamom fudge. I loved this student nurse there, we bonded over photos of my wounds. She's a little twisted ;D

No wounds present in the video. You're pretty coherent so don't worry there. Just take it easy as no doubt 100s of people are already telling you. Hope they keep the pain meds light, because those injuries of yours could perhaps cause a dependence on them (which would be understandable given the mechanism of injury and that you lost so much blood). Heal up!

Title: Re: Hoffy in the Hospital
Post by: BanzaiCat on October 27, 2017, 10:20:05 AM
Nope. Had no idea what you were talking about so I had to Google it.

QuoteIt tells the story of a group of people who take sexual pleasure from car crashes, a notable form of paraphilia. The film stars James Spader, Deborah Kara Unger, Elias Koteas, Holly Hunter, and Rosanna Arquette.

I think I'm good and can pass on this!

I just saw that Netflix is pushing all the Saw movies. Those are odd films. I never had problems with gore in any medium, not even in real life, but in Saw movies, they made me cringe like hell.

Every David Cronenberg flick is weird and twisted, but that one was particularly so. It's a challenge to make it through his movies. I watched most of them when I was much younger. Not sure I could do it today.

My stitches are supposed to come out friday, but I think I'll probably need surgery again due to them popping during sleepwalking. Of course my psycho mother refuses to let me go to the hospital, can't even catch a bus or something due to the heat

Bugger this.  Don't think I'll be getting out of the sling for months. My left arm is in so much pain I had to triple the oxy

Dude, you need to decrease that oxy as soon as you can. Big Pharma lied when they said it was less addicting. You need to do whatever you can to reduce it's hold on you because that shit was practically engineered to make junkies.

If your mum won't let you get proper treatment then call a friend or two and tell them you need help now. Get them to sneak you out and get to a hospital ASAP. Tell them what's going on and that you need proper responsible pain management. Get some professionals involved in your battle.

Stags is absolutely correct. You should not use oxygen if there's no need for it.

Do you use a pulse-ox monitor? It's the clippy thing that goes on the end of one finger. Unless your O2 saturation is in the mid-to-low 90s or lower, you should NOT be using it regularly. O2 from tanks is supposed to be a temporary fix to stabilize a low O2 content in the blood stream. If you're using O2 when your saturation is normal, you're putting poison into yourself.

Did your doctor prescribe oxygen? If so I can only imagine it was because of a low blood saturation. If not, he's probably a quack. I can't think of any reason to order such a thing otherwise.  ???

Ha!  :D

Well, that's still true. At least that's what they taught me when I was working an ambulance.

Oxycontin is...well, it has a metric ton of contraindications. One of the worst ones (IMO anyway) is how it slows your breathing down. I say "worst" because if you're not close to hyperventilating and breathing normally, this could be bad news. It can also swell up your throat.

Fair warning, my friend threw up on seeing those images

Last week I went to the doctors, the nurses had no idea where my wounds were, and since I can't really see them they got pissy at my bad descriptions. I also asked the doctor "at week two i woke up with terrible pain my arm, but I think it was a muscle spasm from a terror, what can I expect if the sutures ripped?"

His exact words "It is what it is, we can't just open you up to you think you had a night terror"

I want to kick him in the balls.

That's serious damage!

I was in the medical troops in the army so i don't mind seing this.
