So I have mentioned several times I had night terrors. Pretty severe. well the worse thing happened two night ago.
I jumped through my window during one. I have four major lacerations, two on each one, one of them just missing a major artery, I lost just under a litre of blood.
I made my wayinside and layed on the floor while our tenant kept pressure on the major wound. I saw them later, skin hanging off and fat tissie
I have no idea how much damage is done, they took a cat scan and said they couldn't see anything troubling. I have been waiting for surgery for two days. Hopefully it will be done in about eight hours.
I'm absolutely terrified. I just needed to vent
Crap Hof! Hope you get better soon. Is there anything you can get/do to reduce the night terrors? Never heard of them being that bad.
Damn, that's awful, Hof. +1 to hoping your injuries heal quickly. Wish I knew more about how to deal with night terrors...

On phone and zonked on oxycontin. Forgive the weird spelling.
Don't know, the only guess we have is not playing or wtching intense things before bed. It's so buggered sas watxhing Gates motel that night.
I made the mistake of looking at the wound photos my mother took. I'm Wes cravens dummy
holy crap... please heal up soon!
Damn that is rough. I hope they get you fixed up soon.
I don't know much about night terrors but I assume that the episodes only last a few minutes. AFA next time, can you move something in front of your window to keep you from easily jumping through it until you regain awareness of your surroundings? A heavy piece of furniture maybe?
Get Better, Hof! And no more jumping out windows ;)
for the sake of trying to find a bright side in all of this - at least you don't live on the 28th floor of a building.
I had no idea adults could have night terrors. My 4 year old has had them. They are terrifying.
Get well soon.
Take care, Hof. That's some scary shit.

I didn't until Hof mentioned them a while back. Totally nuts.
Get better Hof.
My older daughter had night terrors when she was younger. We cured them by taking her to the bathroom before they hit...they would come every night at the same time, around midnight. Took us 18 months to solve that problem. I have a sister who also had them as an adult. If you would like, Hof, I can ask her how she deals with them. I know she is on some kind of anti-depressants but not sure which or how much.
Get well soon, Hof O0

...buy burning that old beaten up crate from grandgrandpa stored in corner of the attic and long forgotten, which had a bleached out inprint "Golem Clay" :-"
Get well soon!
I really like your gaming videos.
Hopes and prayers for your speedy recovery Hof. As a Psych Nurse I can tell you NT's are nothing to be ignored or made light of. The first step in beating them is having the courage to admit to others you're having them. Gus' point about changing your nightly routine is a good one along with what you've already mentioned doing. Professional counseling is also a consideration to identify underlying causes and plan some coping strategies. As well as venting on Grogheads. Helps the hell outta me.
Sorry to hear of this latest development, Hof. I hope you will be on the mend soon.
Damn! Heal up soon, Hof. And here's hoping for no repeat performances.
Get well soon, Hof. You know we are all pulling for you.
^+100
Any chance you can relocate to a room without windows once you get home? Or put up bars or a shutter?
Oh, damn. :o
Hope the worst is behind you and a speedy recovery, Hof.
Holy shit, Hof! Heal quickly, brother. Best wishes.
Out of surgery. One arm in sling, another wrapped up do I can't bend it.
Had to ask the nurse for a bottle to piss in. 10/10 would Nicolas cage through my window again
;D
Keep up the good spirits.
Surgeons saw me. They repaired the muscles, but they said I may have minor nerve damage, I should be able to do all the normal stuff, but typing will get wacky for me
We'll never notice - look at some of the stuff the rest of us type...............anyhow, very glad to hear that you're on the mend.
Heal up Hof!
Don't no huu urrr refer-inngg 2 Bob. Typpping is ovrratted iny way.
^OFRL
^LLO!!!!!!!!
So I can do most things by myself, I just need help getting out of bed, putting a shirt on and need some food cut up.
I had this dream last night that the cut up version of me was standing in the door way screaming at me. My sister also dreamed that a demon escaped me and was trying to posess her.
Stopped by the hospital and gave them a trsy of mango and cardamom fudge. I loved this student nurse there, we bonded over photos of my wounds. She's a little twisted ;D
Are you on some good meds, Hoffy? :P
Sounds like it. O0

That's a nice yet light cocktail. You don't want to go too heavy. :)
Hope you heal up quickly!

Video update I put out. Nothing big, but if you're the type that gets their jollies from people with limited movement like a friend of mine does. There ya go,
I just wanna thank you all for the support, it means the world to me
Not gonna look... other's people's injuries freak me out. I'm OK if I'm bleeding out but I can't handle other's pain.
Start making shoot'em up vids again! :D
No wounds present in the video. You're pretty coherent so don't worry there. Just take it easy as no doubt 100s of people are already telling you. Hope they keep the pain meds light, because those injuries of yours could perhaps cause a dependence on them (which would be understandable given the mechanism of injury and that you lost so much blood). Heal up!
And sleep in a bedroom with no windows. No... large windows anyway. Glad you're on the mend Hoffy.
Just got back from the hospital, everything is healing, but I'm basically pickle Rick for three more weeks.
I got photos of my stitches if anyone wants to see
Be careful, Hof.
No need for pics, but glad you're out of the hospital. O0
How about my 'Protruding' Hernia? Anybody want to take a gander at that? I've also got Colonoscopy pics but I usually save them for the Holidays.
Haha, you guys couldn't hang with an EMT training manual.
I showed it to a cop once, and he said (and I quote), "that book is wack." :D

The disturbing part is that you thought of it as "wack-off"
While interesting, the pics in that book weren't THAT interesting. :P
Did you ever see that David Cronenberg movie, Crash? That was wack.
Nope. Had no idea what you were talking about so I had to Google it.
QuoteIt tells the story of a group of people who take sexual pleasure from car crashes, a notable form of paraphilia. The film stars James Spader, Deborah Kara Unger, Elias Koteas, Holly Hunter, and Rosanna Arquette.
I think I'm good and can pass on this!
I just saw that Netflix is pushing all the Saw movies. Those are odd films. I never had problems with gore in any medium, not even in real life, but in Saw movies, they made me cringe like hell.
Every David Cronenberg flick is weird and twisted, but that one was particularly so. It's a challenge to make it through his movies. I watched most of them when I was much younger. Not sure I could do it today.
Apologies to Hoffy.
Yeah, sorry Hoffy. We hijack around here.
I'll have to check it out, maybe. I'm usually pretty neutral on most horror movies. The last one I really liked recently was Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. That one was some surprising and entertaining stuff.
Nah, I dun care about hijacking.
Here are the photos of my stitches if you wanna see. Left arm, right arm, back of right arm

Holy crap. Looks like you just barely missed the artery.
My stitches are supposed to come out friday, but I think I'll probably need surgery again due to them popping during sleepwalking. Of course my psycho mother refuses to let me go to the hospital, can't even catch a bus or something due to the heat
Bugger this. Don't think I'll be getting out of the sling for months. My left arm is in so much pain I had to triple the oxy
Dude, you need to decrease that oxy as soon as you can. Big Pharma lied when they said it was less addicting. You need to do whatever you can to reduce it's hold on you because that shit was practically engineered to make junkies.
If your mum won't let you get proper treatment then call a friend or two and tell them you need help now. Get them to sneak you out and get to a hospital ASAP. Tell them what's going on and that you need proper responsible pain management. Get some professionals involved in your battle.
what Stags said
So sorry to hear about your injuries and difficulty recovering. Missed this while traveling. I've prayed for your recovery.
Ditto Hoff!

I don't really have any friends, at least none that will to help. Ive been talking about my physical and emotional abuse for years and I've never gotten help.
Stags is absolutely correct. You should not use oxygen if there's no need for it.
Do you use a pulse-ox monitor? It's the clippy thing that goes on the end of one finger. Unless your O2 saturation is in the mid-to-low 90s or lower, you should NOT be using it regularly. O2 from tanks is supposed to be a temporary fix to stabilize a low O2 content in the blood stream. If you're using O2 when your saturation is normal, you're putting poison into yourself.
Did your doctor prescribe oxygen? If so I can only imagine it was because of a low blood saturation. If not, he's probably a quack. I can't think of any reason to order such a thing otherwise. ???

Oxycontin, not Oxygen
no one really wants to kick their oxygen addiction
Ha! :D
Well, that's still true. At least that's what they taught me when I was working an ambulance.
Oxycontin is...well, it has a metric ton of contraindications. One of the worst ones (IMO anyway) is how it slows your breathing down. I say "worst" because if you're not close to hyperventilating and breathing normally, this could be bad news. It can also swell up your throat.

YOU are your best friend. Not preaching or making light of this, but you have to think this way to make it in life in my opinion. Yea, friends/family make for a nice support network, you have to be your best friend.
Best of luck on a speedy recovery there Hof O0
Thinking of you and wishing you the best, Hof.
If you wanna see pics of my wounds. They are located here https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalGore/comments/7eyxua/jumped_through_window_during_night_terror/
Fair warning, my friend threw up on seeing those images
Last week I went to the doctors, the nurses had no idea where my wounds were, and since I can't really see them they got pissy at my bad descriptions. I also asked the doctor "at week two i woke up with terrible pain my arm, but I think it was a muscle spasm from a terror, what can I expect if the sutures ripped?"
His exact words "It is what it is, we can't just open you up to you think you had a night terror"
I want to kick him in the balls.
Hope you are doing better.
Wow - I hope you finish healing up soon
Sorry Hoff. I've never even visited this portion of the forums before so this is news to me. I've always enjoyed your game videos immensely and wish you well. So sorry for your troubles.
Chin up.
I somehow missed this thread as well (until now).
