The UNC-Indiana game in the next round will determine the fate of 40 cent and myself.

I can't be the only veteran of these competitions doing a small happy-dance at KyzBP on the bottom of the table, can I?

I'm doing well ............... so far.

UNC wins - I win this pool.

UNC Wins and Oklahoma makes it to the final 4, I win the office pool (although I'm tied for 7th there).

Kansas wins - I lose everywhere.

40cent is in legit danger of winning the entire ESPN competition.  :coolsmiley:

I'm in legit danger of going first-to-worst  :-[ :-[

There's Centurion40, and then there's the rest of us.

Given the way it is scored, whoever has the most winners from the round of 8 on will win it. The scoring is one reason I don't like this format as well as others. You can hit 32 out of 32 then 16 out of 16 and lose to the person who just has a great round 8 and onward. You get more points for picking 7 winners than you do for picking 48.
If it looks like chicken, tastes like chicken, and feels like chicken but Chuck Norris says its beef, then it's beef.

If women had apostrophes instead of periods they would be even more possessive!

Bison

So the key is to pick more winners then losers in the rounds of 64 and 32, which will become the sweet 16 and elite 8.   Or something like that... :)

airboy

The key is picking the actual winner.  Next the right semi-finalists, then the final four.  The first two days are exciting, but the winner of the pool is almost always the one who gets the winner right.  It is almost impossible to lose the ESPN setup if you picked the correct overall winner and nobody else in your pool did.

Indiana Wins - 40 Cent wins.
UNC Wins - I win.
Kansas Wins - one of the 4 guys who picked Kansas wins.  Not sure if any of the Kansas guys are statistically out of it compared to the rest of the Kansas pickers.

40 Cent has done awesomely well so far, but if Indiana loses to UNC he is toast.
If UNC loses to Indiana and Satan's Team makes it to the round of 8, then our dogs are going to hear a lot of angry curses.

The key is to have the winners who advance to the final 4 and the championship game make it. Just winning those 3 games gets you 640 points. Winning all the first round games gets you 320.

I use to be in a pool that had a progressive scoring for the tourney but it wasn't as big as ESPN. it was 1,2,3,4,8,10 as opposed to 10,20,40,80,160,320. It made picking winners in the 1st two rounds have some more value. Now the only ones that really matter are the ones you pick to reach the elite 8.

Two games down in the Sweet 16 and I'm 1 & 1.

Well I'm sinking slowly to the bottom of the bracket.

isn't Perry Ellis like a 17th-year senior?
