QuoteToday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees. The Rock Hall's 2015 class includes the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Green Day, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and Bill Withers, all in the performer category.

This year's class also recognizes the "5" Royales with the early influences award, and former Beatle and solo artist Ringo Starr enters the Hall of Fame – the last of the Fab Four to be inducted as a soloist, following John Lennon in 1994, Paul McCartney in 1999 and George Harrison in 2004.

"As we mark 30 years of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions, we're proud to honor these artists," said Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President Joel Peresman. "These Inductees epitomize rock and roll's impact over the past 50 years and continuing through today."

I have a hard time accepting Green Day going in before Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, or Judas Priest, all of whom were more successful and influential over a longer time than Green Day.
Not sold on Joan Jett, either.  I like her, but not sure they're HoF-worthy.  There are all sorts of bands that were more groundbreaking, successful and influential that are not in and ought to go ahead of her.
Glad that Stevie Ray is finally getting in, though.  Just put on "Lenny" and lean back and close your eyes.  Pure passion on a guitar.

For as much as the 90's was "my" music decade, I agree with you on Green Day.  Not that they don't necessarily deserve to get in eventually, but there's a lot of other acts should be inducted before them.

I do think Jett should be there, though.  In fact, I couldn't imagine a R&R HoF without her.

I agree with Brant's point about Green Day getting in before Deep Purple, Iron Maiden & Judas Priest.  All three of those bands contributed mightily to rock.  However, I don't think it's a travesty.  Look how long it took KISS or Rush to get in?  I don't know who sets the ballots or how they are voted for, but, I think that these people have their heads up their asses most of the time.

Ringo getting in as a solo act?  There shouldn't be any reason for that.  Not even being a Beatle.

Joan Jett?  For two songs and being part of a band that noone gave a shit about until they made a movie about it?  Doesn't belong.

And why has it taken so long for Stevie Ray Vaughn to be inducted?  He's been dead over twenty years.  And there weren't too many guitarists that could hold his pick when it came to the blues.  Then or now.

Others may not agree but it's good to see Lou Reed on that list.

Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

The only admission to the HoF that I agree with, this year.

That DP got snubbed again this year, is a travesty.

The most influential punk band was the Ramones who launched the Clash, Sex Pistols, Green Day etc.......  The Ramones clarified the punk style.  The Ramones were inducted years and years ago.

In terms of 2nd wave punk bands, Green Day was highly influential.  Having seen most every punk band for 20 years that toured, Green Day was one of the worst for bad concerts.

Joan Jett's work was probably more influential as a member of the Runaways - a massively inflential Girl Rock band that also included Lita Ford.

There are lots of bands in the R&R Hall of Fame that did not influence anyone - yet sold a lot of music.  Let me give an example.  The Eagles sold a ton of music and were highly influential both on Country Music and on R&R country influenced bands.  Fleetwood Mac sold a ton - but had little influence on anyone.

But really, how important is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?  It is probably even less important than a Grammy.  After all, Homer Simpson has a Grammy.

That is one sad list, why don't they just call it the music hall of fame, usually there ain't much rock in it.I  agree Green Day hasn't done enough and Ringo.......pppuuuuuulleeeeeease. Thought Lou Reed was already in, guess not. Long over due for Stevie Ray though, buts that about par for the course at least they finally inducted Rush, talk about technical proficiency Rush has it in spades. I received some nice bose headphones from santa, man gotta love a fuc**ng good pair of headphones, so i saw the thread and had to go listen to some "can't stand the weather" ...R.I.P. Stevie Ray. If your a Stevie Ray fan go listen to some Kenny Wayne Sheperd, he was supposed to be the second coming of Stevie Ray and cites him as his major influence. You can defiantly here the influence in his playing.
Here's a cut.

Got me to thinking who stills needs to get in the hall[although i'm not sure its that big of a deal]. With my bent toward metal, i'd say Judas Priest would be my #1 or maybe RJD with maybe Iron maiden or Motorhead next on my list.
