The Greeks like to celebrate Easter with fireworks, but the townsfolk of Vrontados on the Greek island of Chios aren't satisfied with simple fireworks. So on the midnight before Easter Sunday, supporters of two rival church congregations – Angios Marcos and Panaghia Ereithiani, gather near their respective churches located on two different hilltops about 400 meters away, and fire tens of thousands of home-made rockets across the valley towards each other. The objective is to hit the bell tower of the church of the other side. Direct hits on each belfry are counted and the parish with the most hits is determined the winner.

Cool pic.

20-25 years ago, buying fireworks & firecrackers was much easier around Montreal (way less restrictions).  That made going to Saturday night mass before Easter Sunday just before midnight a real hoot.  It wasn't crazy as that photo above, but it was intense sometimes.  Nowadays, it's a lot tougher, and you have to drive to the Indian reservation to get any real 'works.

I'd go to church more often, if I could set-off rockets and fireworks.  Just sayin'.

I suspect you could find a variety of churches in the South that would accommodate some after-church-fellowship at the skeet range.

prepare the Gus-a-pult!
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.
