The VIC-20 was fortunately the first and last machine I had to do that on. But do it, we did.

I still remember the awesome cartridge that plugged into the back of that machine...it added a whopping 8kb of memory!

I learned to program in BASIC on one of those in 1981.  By 1986 I was done writing code for the rest of my life :D

Oh yeah? Well dagnabit, I had t' learn programmin' on a durn WANG card reader machine! Had t' use these durn card things n' color in boxes to indicate commands. Big BASIC programs took a LOT of cards...and of course it didn't always work on the first try, so debuggin' was a dengnebbit durn ol' time!
