I hadn't seen it yet, but I'm not surprised: the new movie, while miles better than Zilla98, was far too light on the monster action for its length.

(Also its plot was a seething hot mess of nonsense aggressively daring the viewer to try to ignore the problems. But I doubt Toho will improve much on that if at all -- G movies aren't usually known for coherent plotting. Still, a lot of them have been better than that, so I can have at least a little hope along that line.)
