Their performance on the cult classic episode of Midnight Special hosted by The Cars (1979) was a huge influence on a young kid who had heard a lot of music but hadn't found his own yet...

I believe this is that performance:

Also he's credited with the first use of the phrase 'punk rock' for describing the music coming out of NYC in 70'-'71 when he used it on handbills for upcoming Suicide shows.

The Cars were also fans and influenced by them and even wrote an homage that appears on Candy-O:

They were booked to open for The Cars on tour and at one show the audience were throwing shit at Suicide when Ric came out and told the audience that if Suicide didn't play then The Cars didn't play...that was the end of that and the show went on...

Thanks for showing us how to hack our own path through the jungle. You will be missed.
"I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."  - Frank Herbert
