This is the first of two huge updates revealed during 2018 Tennocon. Fortuna is Warframe's second open world area and is said to be much bigger than the first (Plains of the Eidolon). I won't write a wall of text just now, but rest assured that Fortuna brings with it a whole host of new features and will definitely keep we players happy for quite some time!
Here is a demonstration of both Fortuna and Railjack (the second announced expansion, expected 2019) from this year's Tennocon:
Veterans should come back and see what's on offer! Those of you who haven't played: look, I will wax lyrical about Warframe for ever. It's the best free to play game I've ever played, and then some. Everyone bounces off it the first time because it's just so different, and there are so many complex systems. But it's free - you have nothing to lose but your time. Give it a proper try - team up with people, ask in chat for someone to show you the ropes, whatever it takes. Give it some time to show you why it's never out of the Steam top 10 and why everyone who plays it regularly will tell you that it's better than any AAA game.
And you complained that my posts had that 2012 time stamp :P
I know! What the hell is going on with this forum?!
I'm too tired to write much right now, but I've just finished my third consecutive evening exploring the Fortuna update and I'm happy to report that it's stunning! There's a ridiculous amount of content in this update, from crafting custom sidearms to building your own robot companions, to hoverboards, to the sheer size of the new map. It's an embarrassment of riches. I will write about some highlights tomorrow if I remember.
It's no surprise that the game has just set its all time concurrent players record. It's also interesting to note that while most games see a surge in numbers after an update followed by a huge drop, Warframe's numbers just keep on rising steadily. There's a reason for that. ;)
Ninja edit: Warframe is currently Steam's fifth most-played game.
I launched it. Massive update. Played a bit. Reminded me why I stopped. It's just mindless run and gun. Stages are too easy. whatever you do, you still win. I guess that's why many find it fun (including me). Crafting is too complex and what's the point? I can finish the levels without them. No? Some people make crafting the goal and fighting the levels are just the means to do better crafting. But that's not really how I look at games.
No offense mate but you didn't get it, at all. Sentences like "Stages are too easy. whatever you do, you still win" and "Crafting is too complex and what's the point? I can finish the levels without them" betray the fact that you didn't play much at all. Those statements are only true in the very very early game.

Yup. Just 20 hours and finished only three worlds. It's still in my Steam favourites so let's see how it goes.
Hmmm, yeah if you're still on the third world after 20 hours then you're progressing very slowly. I've said it numerous times before and I'll say it again - for some reason almost everyone bounces off Warframe the first time they play it. I was no different. But suddenly everything just clicks and you realise how much there is to do and how fantastic it all is.
Believe me when I say the starting equipment is absolutely not enough to play through the whole game. In the beginning it's a lot like Diablo - you can cut through the waves of enemies like a hot knife through butter, but the difficulty curve is very gentle. Eventually you start dying every now and again, then you die a lot. It's at that point that you start putting a lot of thought into how you mod your weapons and your general strategy. I promise you, it isn't all just run and gun!
I am digging the Warframe vibe again.
We still have the 'Interstellar Grogheads' dojo up, but it hasn't seen much love.
JasonPratt never came around to accepting the invite and Jarhead and Jamus haven't been in game for ages! :buck2:
Are you in a clan, Huw?
I am still a Warframe newbie. Running in my stock Volt frame. She's cool; electrocuting enemies never gets old!
Its on my list of things to do...sorry for the dust in the GH Dojo. I will return!

I'm in a little clan made for me and my regular gaming group (all of whom I effortlessly turned into Warframe addicts!). In case you didn't know, a lot of items in the game are only available through clan research, so it's worth keeping your clan up even if it's just you in it (a clan that doesn't rank up due to population increase has pretty minimal research requirements).
Volt is a great frame. I actually don't have her yet but I believe she's part of the "femmes fatale" pack that's on my wishlist. It's only a matter of time. :D
(Edit: I'm an idiot and it's late. Volt is a male warframe and obviously not in the femmes fatale pack)
I'm still staggered by the enormity of the Fortuna expansion. No wonder the devs were so keen to show it off at Tennocon this year. The K Drive (hoverboard) you get there can also be used on the Plains of Eidolon by the way. O0
Speaking of which...I'm finally at a point where I can start fighting the sentients. In fact, I might dive in and do that right now. :D

i joined the GH clan and no one was ever online so ended up joining another clan that was trying to rebuild. They had tons of stuff unlocked. I havent played much in the past year. Got burned out ranking up!

There's really no need to worry about your MR. Just mix it up, set yourself some short, medium and long term goals, and have at it. There's an enormous amount of stuff to do.
If you haven't played in a while, why not dive into Fortuna? :)
I killed the Grogheads Clan today. Aside from myself all other members haven't been online in more than a year. :)
So if you guys ever restart the game to take a peek, you'll know why you're not in a Clan anymore.

Was it holding you back in any way?
No, but I've managed to create a few WF converts, so to prevent having to pay 200 platinum to change the Clan's name I created a new one.
Just a housekeeping note. :)
I've lost a fair bit of free time these last few days to WF. It really clicked now.
You can't belong to more than one clan at a time, I presume?

That's right, and as he was the founder, the clan would've been deleted if he'd joined another anyway.
Thanks for yesterday Huw! It was good fun despite the tedious bounties.
My Prime stuff came through as well, plus I found out I had Frost Prime laying around unused as well. No idea where I got him from.
Rhino chassis is now building too!
Good times
Nice! Rhino and a good primary weapon will carry you throughout the whole starmap once you've got some decent mods!
We were very unlucky with those bounties, I've never seen anything like it. But at least now it's done and you're free - I assume the goal was to do the Saya's Vigil quest?
Saya's Vigil is now in progress, but I suspect I would be better off doing it later once I am stronger.
I am busy with farming components for the 1st Archwing. I reckon I need one to complete the map.
Other than that working on unlocking Mars junction so I can work towards the big storyline quest.
Alliance has been set.
United Underdogs - for all those small Clans who want to unite but keep their own identity. So if you know other Ghost clans do point them towards our alliance! We should become legion!
If we are able to expand we should look into organising a Discord perhaps.
Haha don't get ahead of yourself mate! I don't even know anyone in Warframe except you and my own clan! :D

Dude, use Rhino. As long as he's got the standard mods with some endo put into them, you can definitely do that quest. The Plains really aren't anything to worry about as long as you're prepared.
You guys are practically speaking a different language.

You should get an archwing when you do the archwing quest.
And yes, do the storyline! The Second Dream sets the stage, The War Within turns everything upside down! Those quests are
awesome!
I am doing the Archwing quest. It sends you to protect artifact drills (whatever those orbital launched things are) to extract enough of the stuff to discover a new archwing artifact piece.
I have got three pieces now, so I can forge the thing tomorrow.
About the Alliance: I figure it might help everyone out if we just try to get a few more small clans in. Perhaps there is no interest within the community to focus on small clans, but we'll see.
I think it would be a logical step to join us for those who want to have a dependable pool of like minded players while remaining in charge of their own small clan. Don't you?
OK cool. I personally hate the archwing missions because archwings
suck in confined spaces. However using them on the Plains of Eidolon and in Orb Vallis is fantastic!

Yes absolutely! If it ever comes up I will try to recruit other ghost clans.
I'm totally in love with Nova by the way. Not only is her Prime the sexiest of all warframes, her 2 and 4 are absolutely devastating. The 4 in particular; it sends out an expanding wave that primes enemies with antimatter. Then, when you kill them, they explode doing massive damage. This, of course, sets off a chain reaction of other primed enemies and it all becomes a glorious mess of instakill! It's like dropping a huge bomb in the room. I was getting more kills than MR13-16 players earlier by using it. :)
Ohhh! Juicy!
I am leveling her at the moment as well, but only her 2 is unlocked for me at this point still.
Her 2 is also brutal if you have a high-damage weapon equipped. I find it's best in defense missions when enemies tend to rush you through a corridor. Charge the bugger up and direct it right into the middle of them and watch all those new corpses fly around. ;)
I just found out I should shoot at my nr 2 ability's orb to make it more potent. :)
Have found all but the last of the glass fragments in Saya's Vigil quest.
Also worked on clearing the Mars nodes in order to be able to start the story quest later on.
Oh and I have found the power of the Boar shotgun... that thing is awesome in the hands of a nimble frame! :smitten:
Haha yep, the Boar is an absolute beast, it's definitely my favourite shotgun. In the screenshot thread I have a picture of my Nova Prime wielding the Boar Prime. :)
What secondary and melee weapons do you use?
Vasto Prime, which I don't particularly like and the Prime version of the sword that came with Nova's pack. Daikin Prime?
You...don't...like the Vasto Prime? What don't you like about it exactly - the high crit chance, high status chance, high fire rate, high accuracy, fast reload speed, two Madurai polarities...? :P
Dude seriously, it's one of the best secondaries in the game, at least until you get to the high MR-locked weapons. It's the secondary all my frames use unless I'm ranking something else up.
I demand to dual-wield, so I will be content once I can have TWO Vasto Primes. >:D

Ahem. (https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Akvasto_Prime) :P
I know! O0
My Archwing is now in the Foundry. Got all its parts this morning.
Also received the blueprint for Garra.
Ran my first Fissure as well, which was a bit of a dissapointment to be honest, cause its just a variant on a normal mission. I thought opening the fissure would be more cinematic. Oh well.
Aaaalmost ready to start Stolen Dreams.

Haha, what were you expecting? Yeah, fissures are just normal missions that also spawn corrupted enemies. It's just a way of cracking relics, which itself is a good source of Forma blueprints and various Prime blueprints. The whole point of fissures is you keep doing them to get more relics and to crack those relics. My favourite type of fissure is Excavation. :)
I don't know man. But I thought Relics would involve some kind of different gameplay mode, which technically it is, but you know... something more special.
The missions are offered as a seperate thing in tracker even.
Also visited Fortuna for a short stint. VERY cool zone.
Don't worry, there's plenty of stuff you haven't seen yet. Yeah Fortuna is awesome. I particularly like that you don't have to go back inside to get new bounties.
I tried this game last year I think but it never grabbed me. Have there been big changes in the last year? Can't recall why it never clicked with me but maybe I'm missing something.
Dude, it's a recognised phenomenon. You always bounce off it the first time - I was no different. It's too weird, too complex, whatever. But dive into it again and really give it a chance, and you'll see why every Destiny video on Youtube has a hundred comments saying "just play Warframe; it's better and it's free."
Yes, a shitload has changed in the past year. There isn't much point listing the changes if you didn't get very far last time though. Just know that Warframe got even bigger and better, and apparently will forever continue to do so. It's a stunning game. Anyone who knows me well will be shocked that it's held my attention for so long. For the first half of this year I played nothing else on my PS4. Then in the summer I installed it on my PC and played very little else on my PC. It would be an incredible game for full price...it's beyond belief that it's actually 100% free. I even managed to convince my gaming group (notoriously difficult to agree on a game) to try and and now they're all hooked too.
I really do urge you to try it again. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. :)
Thanks Huw, appreciate that. :bd:
Ysk I can't believe the bad luck you were having getting those Cephalon fragments. Again. You seem to be a bad luck charm! :2funny:
My advice would be to just focus on other stuff but keep doing missions on Mars every now and again and they'll just show up. Just don't do the endless missions like survival and defense - instead do the ones with short win conditions like exterminate, sabotage, capture and rescue.
Oh, and have fun with your Nova Prime - her 4 is a ridiculous lolbomb of death!
Haha yeah just blame it on me!
Those missions become irksome if they dont show up time and again, so yes, good idea to run other stuff on Mars and hopefully run into those fragments.
A new junction opened up to me as wel, so its not that I am stuck.
Nova is hawt!
So I'm (finally) starting to get back into this...
Is there a Grog clan that exists? Anyone care to send an invite?
There's no Grog clan. However my gaming group and I formed a clan so that we could benefit from clan research etc. We always play as a full squad once a weekend but besides that we're open to playing with others too. Add me if you want an invite - my in game name is Huwie.
(We're also part of an alliance; I rarely see anyone else online from other clans but that could just be a timezone thing.)
Yes I think it is.
Warframe is such a great game! Good choice!
My clan and I are going to hunt our first Eidolon tonight. Wish us luck!
Oh serious business ye go for, yes? :notworthy:
Haha, yep - he got away though. :(
We didn't do badly for a first attempt. We had a couple of lures with us, we got his shields down, and we destroyed one limb. All we had left to do was take out his other limb then blow him up. Ultimately though, our guns just weren't doing enough damage despite fully speccing for radiation. Consequently we kept running out of ammo (and two in our squad kept dying).
We just need to find some way to boost our damage output. Next time we'll get him. In the meantime I might run it with pub squads just to get the experience of a kill or capture.
It was fun though!
Cool beans! :bd:
fyi...just saw this in my email. You'll need to make an Alienware acct to get it. Was showing ~3500 keys left....
