Hey Brant,
I'm finding that the site is almost unusable when I'm connected on a mobile device, be it tablet, phone or laptop. When I'm on a static network, the site is fine to navigate but when mobile, pages take an exceedingly long time to load and very often come back "page not found" and I have to go back and reload several times. This makes posting messages impossible as well.
This seems to coincide with the implementation of tapatalk (which I don't use by the way- though I tried it briefly and found it useless). Perhaps the site is checking to see if the mobile user is using tapatalk with every page load and thus it's bringing it to a crawl in those cases? Anybody else?
Same for me. If I connect my laptop through my phone hotspot I get the same issues you describe.
Weird. I occasionally get a hung page load on mobile, but I've always chalked that up to the crappy coverage we get at my office (where I've had to re-send some text message 2-3x to get thru)
No one else has reported any issues, so let's give it a day or so and see what people think.
Maybe we'll turn Tapatalk off for a week and see what happens.
I don't have a problem playing with some settings to see if makes things better or worse, and reverse them if 'worse' is the outcome.
Do you notice the same effects if you're on a mobile device on wifi? Or just on cell data signals?
Just when mobile. On the road, I use Verizon roaming 4G on my laptop and cell and have those problems. When at home, my laptop connects via wifi to my cable provider and it works perfectly every time. I didn't use to have issues when on the road but it's finally getting to point that I'm almost ready to only check the site when I'm home. I don't think that it's your forum software, Enrico uses the same for his site and I don't have any problems when checking it while mobile. I'm guessing it's something to do with tapatalk.
Whole frickin site is slow to me this morning on my work PC. And it's just this site not the rest of the interwebs.... >:(
The site seems ok today from my mobile (using 4G LTE).
On laptop/desktop, I noticed lags when trying to reply to a post today, or accessing pages in forum or front page

His doesn't prompt me to switch to using tapatalk like yours does when I access it though...

I was being silly in reference to your gentle reminders for us to check out the articles and news items that are on the front page.

gotcha - maybe he turned it off.
I'm not married to it. Some folks asked us about turning it on, so we did. We can turn it off and see what happens. Let me play with it this weekend.

I was one of the ones that asked that it be enabled (tapatalk) but after being perplexed by what should be basic navigation between forums and threads, I got frustrated and uninstalled the thing. So I feel at least partially responsible if it does in fact turn out to be the tapatalk that is causing the site to crawl for mobile devices.
It's your fault! You're the one!

I do like using Tapatalk on my phone, way easier than the browser.
The site has been very difficult for me to use on my phone too, for months. Also since Tapatalk was implemented.
