So, I think we can agree that one of the things that makes the recent slate of Marvel movies is the humor.

But, there is a rumor running around now that DC doesn't want any humor in its upcoming movies.  I've not been a fan of the latest Superman and Batman movies.  The characters seem to all need intensive therapy throughout the entire movie.  They all look like they could eat a bullet from their own hand.

Maybe it's the actors.  Maybe it's the writing.  But Marvel has hit on a great recipe.  DC should be taking so lessons.

But hey, Batman vs Superman will have Aquaman.

The problem with any humor in a Batman movie is that'll immediately evoke memories of the Adam West series.

Green Lantern (2011) tried a bit of humour, but the movie wasn't that great.  Does the Flash TV series with the Trickster (Mark Hamill)  from the 90's count?

Mark Hamill does the trickster now? :P
He used to voice the Joker.

In any case, Marvel always had a more humourous and comical theme than the darker&grittier DC.

He did the Trickster back in the early 90's Flash TV show.  He's had quite the villains career (on screen and voice acting).

Let's not forget his role as "Cocknocker" from Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back.  :2funny:

That Flash series was pretty forgettable, unfortunately. The Superman movies are awful (including Man of Steel). The Batman series with Bale was pretty good, but it seemed to have an underlying bit of humor at times. Nothing anywhere near a Marvel movie, though.

Though Marvel has had its share of screwups. Amazing Spider Man 2 sucked donkey balls. The Deadpool character in the Wolverine movie was terribly executed (Deadpool is one of my favorite Marvel comic characters, and boy did they blow it).

#$# how could I forget that one  ;D

Toonces - Don't ask me, I just close my eyes and take it.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Both Superman and Batman had some great movies.
The original feature films with Christopher Reeve  were pretty good (at least the first 2), and same goes for Batman.
The 80's Batman movies were astounding. Tim Burton is one of the few responsible for turning Batman from a cheesy Adam-West style comical character into the Dark Knight as we know him today.
Unfortunately the movies that came out in the 90's (Batman Forever and Batman&Robin) were so terrible they made people forget about the first 2.

As for the Christian Bale ones, they were nice but highly overrated.
The 1st was unimpressive, the 2nd overhyped (due to Heath Ledger's supposed suicide over the film) and the 3rd pretty bad in many ways.
The only good thing is that Christian Bale does a very good Batman.

As for the latest Spider-Man... WTF...!?
First you supposedly get someone named Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, except he isn't Garfield!
Garfield is a tiger-stripped fat cat who loves lasagnas and hates Mondays, this guy is a ultra-whiny slimmer version of Sparkles the Vampire.  :idiot2:

I thought the second Christian Bale flick, with Ledger as the Joker, was outstanding.  The way he plays the Joker is excellent - not as the psychotic nut job, but as the devious planner who is always thinking waaaay ahead of everyone else.

^It was the best of its series, but in retrospect it is still overrated.

Btw, what was going on with the crappy CGI effects in Amazing Spider-Man 2?
They looked worse than in the 80's/90's (Can't remember exactly when the first movie series came out, NOT the one with Toby McGuire) Spider-Man movies.

I prefer my Joker Nicholson style. And my Batman anybody but Clooney.

Clooney could have been a decent Batman if not for Joel Schumacher. He made more sense in the role than either Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer. Keaton was miscast but benefitted from Burton's direction and the fact that we were all so desperate for Batman to be awesome again after the West years.
