Also if you click on someone's name in the right hand column their number is shown in a little pop up box.

I have no idea if that number means anything as I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do or even how Discord actually works... total newbee myself....

Important:  If you click on the server settings (top left corner, click the name Grogheads) you will get an option to change your nick.  Thus you can change your nick in Grogheads to match your forum account, without changing your actual Discord account name.
