Wild Bill Wilder passes
« on: September 01, 2020, 03:20:37 PM »
Wild Bill Wilder, a fixture of the wargaming scene since at least the 80s, has passed away according to David Heath on Facebook.

I recall WBW from the early days of Combat Mission, but he was involved in Steel Panthers, Squad Leader, ASL and others.

:(  RIP.  Might have to fire up some Squad Battles tonight in his honor.  I recall always getting my ass handed to me in scenarios he designed.

If yer lookin' for the general, I know where he is...

Very sad to hear about this. I have been a fan of his forever and had a chance to work with him a few times when we were all working at the Wargamer.

RIP

I remember Wild Bill and the raiders. Lots of great scenarios and information. He was a very early supporter of Digital War Gaming. Very sad to know of his passing. It seems, reading his obituary, that he left the world a better place. A fine example of what a life can be.

Sad to hear. His name is all over the place when it comes to wargaming. Condolences to the family.

RIP Bill.  Spent hours and hours playing your and your team's scenarios.  You will always have a fond place in my heart.

May God have mercy on Bill's soul.

He was a good guy and I remember him answering some questions I had, maybe the community can create something on the forum for him as a remembrance.

If I remember correctly, he used to hang-out here on occasion. What a great loss we've suffered this day but the man made his mark on the world he loved for sure. I remember the very first scenario I ever played in the original CMBO was his excellent Michael Wittman at Villers Bocage. I was forever in love with that game after that. Thank you Wild Bill for some of the great joys of my life.  :'(
