I'm still leaning toward getting my first Alienware machine, with an NVidia 3080.

Jarhead -

I see you ordered 64GB RAM, and that makes me think that this is not just a pure gaming rig.  In that case, just curious why you didn't go for an AMD Zen 3 5900x or 5950X. The new Zen 3 vs the prior Zen 2 blew Instructions Per Clock (IPC) way higher vs Intel and most benchmark sites I've monitored show it as the hands down winner for top performance (today) in the Intel vs. AMD war.  Someone ordering a system with the awesome spec's you're getting generally has a reason for each component they get. I'll admit I was a little surprised to see a 750W PS vs 1000W, and you certainly won't need any dimmer switches for your home lights anymore.  8)

Just curiosity on my part - was there a specific reason why you didn't go Zen 3 with such a massively powerful set of components? (Nice rig regardless, btw!)
Gaming Rig:
HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop w/Pen Support
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz w/16GB RAM
HP Omen Thunderbolt 3 External GPU/Storage Chassis with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and 1TB SSD
27" Dell S2716DG 144Hz 1440p with GSync at 2560x1440

It is absolutely just for gaming. Nothing else. Not even porn.

I guess I didn't look at the AMDs because I didn't know any better. I thought the power supply was light too, and I figure that is part of the reason why the price was reasonable and not too crazy/

I'm probably mere days away from ordering a system from Digital Storm with a 3070. Hell, maybe even tomorrow.

While we're all on the subject of new PC's, I would like a system that is pretty quiet, as in fans only being loud when they need to be. My current system has Standard Factory Chassis Fans and they seem to run all the time, even when all I'm doing is typing an Email.

What are you guys experience with fancy fan systems like, for instance, Corsairs? I don't give a flying **** about their pretty flashing colors. I just want to know if they're worth it for the quiet factor. Does anyone here have an opinion?

Even I'm getting liquid cooled, getting over my fear of getting a liquid cooled machine shipped and everything.

That's what I thought. I talked to a DS tech a couple of times recently and it seems that only an extremely expensive liquid cooling setup is going to make a significant difference. I'm trying to find out if there's a happy medium with intelligent fan management of some sort.
