Military acronym of the day: PVVMSK

Puolustusvoimien varusmiessoittokunta. The Defence Forces Conscript Band. But of course!  O:-)

I always thought the few remaining military bands here in Finland are all professional, but no, conscripts get trained, too. So not only can you be the best you can be as a tanker or gunner, you can be a drummer! Or flutist!

I also learnt each year, the conscript band compose and perform their very own and unique Tango Juliet Zero (TJ0, zero bugle calls left, today) song they then play at the events when the transcripts get to go home.

Combat vest on, from the barracks to the forest
Our instruments stay when we leave for the school

There are good and bad days behind it
But in any situation i can trust these guys
Proudly we carry our blue beret
