Title: Hopefully the ICARUS devs haven't aimed too high...!

But their PvE gameplay loop looks tasty!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1149460/ICARUS/

Roughly speaking, you (solo or up to seven friends) are dropped onto a planet that humanity catastrophically failed to terraform, but which resembles a gorgeous open-world poison-air kind-of-alien mountainous Alaska (complete with an Alaskan ecosystem. So pine trees, elk, and polar bears.)

Your goal is to harvest and bring back "exotic matter", returning to orbit. But the game is a rogue-like, so if you succeed then you (and any friends) get to keep your stats and progression, but if you die dirtside or fail to make the escape launch window, that's the end for your characters!

Releases in early August (presumably early access, but who knows. Development looks pretty far along.)

Oddly, the only videos currently available come from the Icarus design team (and various gamers reacting to their footage) -- no pre-release copies out yet for marketing. And aside from the teaser 11 months ago, all the videos are in the past month.

The dev-streams are very much live and low-key, so.... well, here's one of the shorter ones.
