^Seriously? I get its an interesting and rarely gamed period of history, but this particular game looks like total crap. Really rough around the edges.

It looks kinda like a Monty Python skit.

If you've studied the Anglo-Zulu war as much as I have, and you have a real emotional investment in the era - then anything is better than nothing.

This period gets very little game time, and over the years I've eeked out as much as there is out there...
Gaming the Anglo-Zulu War is tricky because its a period that isn't covered that much by computer wargame developers.
Naturally I've played almost all of what is out there...

Jeff Lapkoff's Zulu War
http://sugarfreegamer.com/an-old-age-of-rifles/

Age of Rifles: Isandlwana scenario
http://sugarfreegamer.com/age-of-rifles-last-stand-at-the-little-sphinx-turn-1-2/

White Dog Games' Day of the Spears II
http://sugarfreegamer.com/zulu-dawn-the-battle-of-isandlwana/

Victory Point Games Zulus on the Ramparts (a solitaire boardgame made into a mobile game android/ios)
http://sugarfreegamer.com/zulus-on-the-ramparts-aar-part-1/

Jeff Lapkoff's amazing The Drift 1879
http://sugarfreegamer.com/the-drift-1879-aar-part-1/

and even tried to craft an Advanced Tactics mod called "Invasion of Zululand"
http://sugarfreegamer.com/oiling-the-martini-henry/

So as you can see, I'm a little obsessed with the era :)

This is the first, first person shooter that I have found depicting Rorke's Drift. So naturally I've overjoyed 1) it's actually coming out! 2) its on Steam and 3) it will get more attention from the gaming public because of the notorious DRM distribution mechanism!

Honestly I would take any level of indie homebrew roughness to experience something of this era and conflict.

It's not for everyone. But as far as I'm concerned, it's for me :)

Okay, we can all see the problems I guess. But:

1.) the scenery looks right (within the engine limitations). At least heavily inspired by the two movies.

2.) the Zulus also use a few rifles -- a nice touch that could have been overlooked or intentionally ignored.

3.) the Zulus morale-up, during Zulu player gameplay, with that hooting cheer and a dance. Maybe not sensible exactly where they were in the trailer when they were doing it, but I got a chill.

4.) I can't recall offhand what the knobbed club is called (my brain keeps saying "kebble" although I know that's definitely wrong and not even very close), but I was impressed to see it as a melee option.

5.) A game where the campaign involves the Zulu and the British in an undead nightmare plot, would rule all. Apply to this video, ironically or not, as applicable.  ::)
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Knoberrie I believe - though I am sure that's used as a verb in some places...
"you are the rule maker, the dictator, the mini- Stalin, Mao, Hitler, the emperor, generalissimo, the MAN. You may talk the talk and appear to be quite easy going to foster popularity, but to the MAN I say F*CK YOU." And Steve G is F******g rude ? Just another day on the BF forum ... one demented idiots reaction to BF disagreeing about the thickness of the armour on a Tiger II turret mantlet.

Nah, a Zulu Monty Python skit looks better.

"These men do not want a happy ship. They are deeply sick and try to compensate by making me feel miserable. Last week was my birthday. Nobody even said "happy birthday" to me. Someday this tape will be played and then they'll feel sorry."  - Sgt. Pinback

I'm pretty sure it was "kerrie" I was thinking of. I did recall "knob" being associated with it, but I thought that was just a description of the mace end of the stick. (Technically that's probably true anyway; the word looks partially Boer. Rather like "aasvogel", part Dutch part Zulu.)

Asid has been playing for like 5 hours straight. He said it needs work, but he seems to like it.
