New Lord of the Rings game - Gollum (but quality questionable)

The new Gollum game is out and I was looking forward to it. But reviews are as bad as they come.

I was interested before release but the reviews are solidly in the toilet, like you say

It's not a good sign when the front page of the community hub on Steam is an apology from the developers.

Between this and Rings of Power, it seems like the Tolkien estate post-Christopher is just going guns-for-hire with the IP.

Not sure if it is the cynic in me however I do not think this would have ended differently even with a more competent developer.

Gollum as a character study, yes very interesting.

Gollum as a stand alone game...haha NOPE.

Daedalic actually publishes some very good games; not sure if they've ever developed any tho.
