Title: Now We Are FRIDAY
Post by: Jarhead0331 on January 21, 2022, 08:12:15 AM
I'm not a religious man, but her voice gives me faith that there are angels.

Expeditions Rome, CSVN, DCS and Bannerlord.

Great song from a great movie.

I'll be doing the Total War thingy since I'm on a mod kick right now with the series.
Star Wars Empires at War with the BSG War of the Colonies 0.66 mod.

I might dabble some more with Civ6 but although it's a good game it takes forever and a day to load a game.  Hence I'm not playing it as much as I should.  (My computer is old but not that old and can handle large battles in Total Warhammer 2 no problem.  Civ games have always been notorious for poor programming optimization)

Probably won't get far this weekend, but hope to dabble with:

- Gods of War (liking it more than I originally thought)
- CS: Vietnam
- Expeditions Rome
- WarNo (against my better judgement and against what I originally said, I bought it---seemed pretty cheap so what the heck---doubt I will ever grasp it)

In reality, probably won't touch any of them and instead continue to shovel all the snow we keep getting:)

Continuing my Kievan Rus campaign in 1100AD for Rome 2 TW. I will also be starting the Moscow campaign for Age of Empires IV. I don't know what it is but I just don't appreciate 3D graphics in games like AoE IV like I appreciate the sprites in Age of Empires II.

Getting into a bit of a sci-fi mood so may attempt some Battlefleet Gothic: Armada II as well as jumping back into Star Wars: Squadrons.

Also, murmurs of a potential Assassin's Creed title set in Asia:

It's going to be a lot more Campaign Series Vietnam for me. It is the first thing that has displaced Gloomhaven in about a month  :)

Disappointed it is China instead of Japan.

I would love an AssCreed set in Japan as well. There have been other similar games involving historical Japan and assassinations but nothing quite caught the magic that the original Tenchu did all those years ago. An update on that game would be epic.

Enemy Coast Ahead - game about dam-busters raid - (Am reading book of same name by Guy Gibson so seemed appropriate) and probably a little ActionPC Football as well.

Read that book when I was a very wee Tedlet and was mad about all things Lancaster for quite some time.

I was Normandy and got crushed.  I'm currently Byzantium and still a little empire of sorts.

^I almost got crushed as Kiev (was down to one province) but hung on and am slowly starting to kick ass. Putting it aside for now for more modern pursuits but will be back in not too much time.

I built up some tough armies as the Byzantines.  Here we see some mercenary spearmen becoming worried as they start to get some serious encounters with some veteran Byzantine troops (with shields and iconic banner heading into the camera):

Ultima IX

Man, that's seriously old-skool.

I have a bunch of the Ultima games on GoG, but I've never played any of them....as usual.

Meng the detail in that one Byzantine shield is awesome. And there's that banner again! Great little tidbits.

I got it in the recent gog sale for a couple of bucks. Added some fan patches and it is a rather enjoyable game despite the lame ass story. Dungeons are very complex but fun full of puzzles. Also playing without a walkthrough and doing ok so far.

Just had some moments to play Sid Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies to relax

What's your take on Rainbow Six: Extraction?

What's your take on Rainbow Six: Extraction?

Enjoying it, its basically a 3 player coop PvE version of Siege, but with some feistier enemy mechanics. It gets very frantic very quick.. it can go from a cool stealth tactical sweep to an eye blistering adrenalin soaked wipeout in seconds.

The price you pay for failure is that your operators health or lack of it, is persistant between missions.. so if you take a lot of damage to your actual health (rather than just whittling away your shielded mitigating temporary health) the you need to use your other ops to gain experience that pays for trickle healing of your injured ops. If they go down to like 30% health, they're out of action till they trickle heal up, if they are killed outright, the aliens will have them cocooned away and the MIA rescue becomes a part of your next runs mission.

A coordinated team ~should~ have enough tactical options to cover unforseen eventualities.

To be honest, I didn't go into it with high expectations, I suspected it was a IP asset fluff of Siege. There was a monster/horde mode timed event in Siege a while back, that IMHO just didn't sit right on the more planned controlled tacops of Siege itself. However, I've been pleasantly surprised with the amount of enviromental and enemy threats overlapping to make picking your way through a mission always a layered problem that needs coordinated solutions. So for coop its good tucker.

if you want to see it in action, by a team who know how to play it, this is a good watch:

Thanks for the info and the video spelk.
As I suspected this does look like the kind of game I would play.
Ok add this to my wishlist and watch for a sale.   :)
