This one caught my eye while browsing. Coming next month.

Interesting Steve58.
I really applaud SGS for bringing attention to these sometimes forgotten wars.
The Taiping rebellion is a great example. Also the Japanese invasion of Hong Kong.
But I am still not much of a fan of their mechanics. But slowly, the series is growing on me.
Very cool! :bd:
Taipings looks amazing :D
Released

Waiting for some reviews to come in but I get good vibes from this one.
A little too far off of my areas of interest and a little bit too pricey for me to jump. It is on my wishlist though and I will get it when on sale eventually.
If it's a war where Flashman was involved, I'm in.
Still on my wish list until I actually buy one of the SGS series to try'em out. Gamersgate puts them on sale occasionally. I keep meaning to grab one like Afrika Korps or Pacific D-Day when they're on sale, but always seem to get side-tracked...:undecided:
Like others, this series hasn't fully clicked with me....but looking at some of their planned releases this year, might have to give it a try again, especially for the Nato game and We the People (war of independence).

Battle for Hue...wow. That'll be a day 1 purchase, regardless of whether I ever play it. :Nerd:

I missed seeing that:) Likely on my list too.

Same here.
I'm far more interested in the tactical side of this conflict than the strategic.
Sadly is part of my problem with many of the SGS offerings.
Also very interested in Hue. And Stalingrad of course.
And NATO's nightmare.
And Spain at War...
...I need help.

Grabbed Afrika Korps (along with 3 other titles) a month ago and am thoroughly enjoying it.
I bought this game and have played about 30 minutes of it so far. It's quite a souped-up engine that Wars Across the World was built with.
I don't know much about this conflict so I'll have to read up on it, but the game does have good atmosphere for that era. Lots of good looking units on the map and the map is like huge so it can be quite overwhelming at first. The only thing that I've noticed is that the game plays well with fps being at 144 Hz, but when the drawn cards are shown in the foreground up close, the fps drops down to 40 fps (system: i9-9900k at 5 Ghz with RTX 3080Ti at 1440p) so the smoothness is less just when the cards are showing on the screen. Otherwise it climbs back up to 144 fps as soon as the cards are minimized.
I'm pretty sure I'll keep the game and play more once I read about the Taiping Rebellion.
I'm in the same boat as you WallysWorld. The game LOOKS interesting as hell. Big.
I just don't know enough about the Taiping Rebellion to know what I'm supposed to
be doing. So off to Amazon......https://www.amazon.com/Autumn-in-Heavenly-Kingdom-audiobook/dp/B007KGFXRC/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1LFAZPFSUBHGF&keywords=taiping+rebellion&qid=1674860129&s=books&sprefix=taipin%2Cstripbooks%2C107&sr=1-10
Stephen Platt (the author) is a well regarded China specialist so I'm looking forward to getting into his book. And I have high hopes for the game.
If you want an enjoyable historical novel about the Taiping Rebellion, check out Flashman and the Dragon. One of the best in a great series of novels.

Thanks for the recommendation Robot. I see I made a hash of my link.
I can't help it. I'm old. It's amazing I've even figured out how to
be here at all.
Great game. Recommended.
On sale for $15.74 over at Gamersgate (https://www.gamersgate.com/product/sgs-taipings/) for the next 2 days.
...and Korean War (https://www.gamersgate.com/games/?query=SGS) for $11.24.
Lions Led by Donkeys podcast just recently did a multi-parter on the Taiping Rebellion; could be a quick-n-dirty way for folks to get the lowdown on Brother Hong. "Wow," is all I can say about it.
You don't say? Linky?

Annnnndddd, if you dig what you get here, LLBD has done more than a few multi-ep series worth listening to; the Iran-Iraq War one springs to mind - just going to leave the phrase, "corpse road," as something you'd come across in that series.
Thank you. I think.
We aim to please!
