New creator DLC announced...

Western Sahara

Quote
In this new DLC, you will take on the role of private military contractors and be deployed to a new desert sandbox terrain. Besides more content creation opportunities in the Arma 3 scenario editor, the Western Sahara DLC will offer several official scenarios and game modes to choose from. One of these is the open-world scenario "Extraction", which can be played in singleplayer or in co-op online multiplayer with up to four players. The scenario offers players the opportunity to serve as an operator for the ION Services private military company who are sent on a combat search and rescue mission after a war correspondent has been taken captive somewhere in the fictional war-torn desert province of Sefrou-Ramal.

Key features of the Western Sahara Creator DLC include:

Sefrou-Ramal Terrain (100 km2) - Composed of completely new assets, as well as upgraded structures and objects from Arma 2 and Arma 3, Sefrou-Ramal is a province in the northeast of fictional Argana and is characterized by flowing sand dunes and desert architecture.
Armed Forces - UNA peacekeepers, Sefrawi Freedom and Independence Army, Tura tribe insurgents, desert NATO forces, and the return of the private military company ION Services.
4 Weapons & 1 Static Weapon - IMIL GALAT and Velko R4 automatic rifle, SLR rifle, XMS bullpup rifle, and a fully remastered Arma 2 static weapon, the ZU-23 anti-air gun.
9 Vehicle Variants - New variants of existing Arma 3 vehicles such as the Zamak truck, AMV-7 Marshall Infantry Fighting Vehicle, Offroad pickup truck, and PO-30 Orca helicopter.
Equipment - A gun drone with a modular weapon attachment system, a portable ballistic shield, and a variety of masks like dust goggles, a military-style headset, a ballistic mask, and more.
Open-World Scenario: "Extraction" - Search for intel and clues to return a kidnapped war correspondent to safety in a sandbox scenario featuring dynamically randomized contracts, which can be played in both singleplayer and multiplayer co-op with up to 4 players.
Multiplayer Mode: "King of the Dunes" - An original spin on the popular community-made sector control multiplayer game mode "King of the Hill".
Multiplayer Mode: "Last Stand" - Defend against waves of enemies in a new co-op game mode for up to 4 players.
Showcase: "ION Weapon Systems" - A VR training environment to test gear in various scenarios and prepare ION operatives for deployment.
2 Time Trial Races - Race across the Sefrawi sand dunes in the Vrana-Redstone Dune Rally.
Additional Content - A digital camera, dromedary camel, refugee tents, and various new structures and props.

It's only $6.99, so I'm not expecting much, but I always welcome new content in this one.

A camel, eh?  Is it a rideable tacticamel?
A War of a Madman's Making - a text-based war planning and political survival RPG

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.
- Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Moistly just new toys, but some cool units including, Australian and New Zealand, Korean Marines, Pathet Lao guerrillas, ARVN Marines and CIA, as well as some new map assets like the Saigon embassy and a new 5kmx5km map depicting a portion of the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos.

i don't know what is more amazing...the fact that an engine with such flexibility exists in the first place, or the modders who are able to exploit it to great scenarios this diverse and exciting.

This modder used ARMA 3 to create a scenario in the Cyberpuink 2077 world.  It's awesome.

Awesome new creator DLC. The Marines have landed!

Expeditionary Forces!

QuoteExplore new warfare capabilities in Arma 3 with the Expeditionary Forces Creator DLC. Prepare your Marines for action on the Amphibious Warfare Ship, assault enemy shores with AAV-9 Mack IFVs and Combat Boats, bring supplies ashore with the LCC-1 Landing Craft, perform raids behind enemy lines with new Hunter reconnaissance vehicles, and take part in the invasion of Altis from a new perspective.

KEY FEATURES

AAV-9 Mack
The AAV-9 Mack is an amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle capable of ferrying a squad of 13 Marines from ship to shore at high speed. It is equipped with either a 30mm or 50mm autocannon and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. It features an extendable periscope for the commander and hatches in the back to allow troops to turn out and return fire.

Combat Boat
The Combat Boat is a 17 meter long multi-role vessel. Its high speed, combined with a versatile design, makes it suitable for amphibious assaults, maritime patrol, and fire support. It can carry a squad of 16 troops plus crew, and can be fitted with a variety of weapons.

LCC-1 Landing Craft
The LCC-1 is a landing craft used to ferry equipment and vehicles from ship to shore. Its design allows it to change between a slow-speed shallow draft ship and a high-speed catamaran. It has a maximum payload of 200 tons and is capable of reaching speeds up to 35 knots (or 65 kph).

Amphibious Warfare Ship "USS Takmyr" (LPD-36)
The Amphibious Warfare Ship is the core of Marine Expeditionary Units. Acting as a floating barracks, it allows MJTFs to deploy all the assets required to sustain operations abroad. Named after the Takistani capital following one of Operation Arrowhead's fiercest battles, the LPD-36 USS Takmyr is the ship assigned to carry the 29th MEU to Altis and execute Operation Resolute Cyclone.

Its design features a flight deck with hangar for launching helicopters, and a well deck to launch landing crafts or amphibious assault vehicles.

One New Faction
The Marine Joint Task Force has arrived. It is a self-contained expeditionary unit capable of operating independently from amphibious warfare ships and specialized in fighting in littoral areas. It comes with a variety of new equipment, including helmets, vests, uniforms, night vision devices, and scuba diving gear.

Hunter Reconnaissance Vehicles
Taking advantage of the capable MRAP chassis, the Hunter Reconnaissance Vehicles greatly expand on their firepower and sensors. Three new variants are available: Fire Support Vehicle (featuring a 30mm rapid-fire autocannon and Titan missiles), Anti-Tank (featuring a dual Titan-NLOS launcher and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun), and Low Altitude Air Defense (featuring a 30mm rapid fire autocannon, SAAMI missiles, and short-range radar for drone detection).

AH-99J Python
At the request of the Marines, an upgrade for the AH-99 was developed in the late 2010s. Named AH-99J Python, the helicopter trades some of its stealth capabilities for long-range datalink antennas, more powerful radar, and external stores allowing it to carry a wider array of weapons, including AGM-122M Sidearm anti-radiation missiles and Titan NLOS pods.

Resolute Cyclone SP Mini-Campaign
On the eve of the NATO invasion on Altis, Marines from the 29th MEU are tasked with securing the western part of the island. Join the MJTF in this single player mini-campaign, use stealth to infiltrate enemy territory, cut the enemy off from reinforcements, and liberate Kavala from the AAF.

Rope In Hand MP CO-OP
A platoon from Light Armor Reconnaissance is tasked with clearing the road for the Marines who are rapidly advancing towards Athira. Hop in a Hunter FSV or Hunter AT with your friends in this multiplayer co-op scenario and strike deep into enemy territory.

New Features

Airburst Munitions: The Hunter LAAD's autocannon is loaded with Airburst munitions which, when combined with radar targeting information, can easily destroy fast aircraft or small drones with just a few shots.

Enhanced Drone Detection: The Hunter LAAD features radar that trades detection range for higher sensitivity, enabling it to even detect small quadcopter drones up to a distance of 4 kms.

Titan NLOS: Long-range anti-tank missile that requires a datalink to gather targeting information, and can engage both laser and vehicle targets. Using ground following radar, it can fly past terrain obstacles and engage targets with no line of sight at launch up to 32 kms away.

AGM-122M Sidearm: The AGM-122M Sidearm was developed as a cheap alternative to more expensive and sophisticated AGM-88C HARM anti-radiation missiles. Converted from stocks of Falchion-22 short range air-to-air missiles, the Sidearm takes advantage of already existing mounts to give most western-made aircraft basic SEAD/DEAD capabilities.

The Expeditionary Forces DLC is really good. I really enjoyed the mini-campaign. It comes with three very solid single-player missions. A real rarity these days. They were so good, I only wish the campaign was longer!

For $7.99, it is a no-brainer for ARMA fans.
