I've been to some places and even found a place where other "creatures" were willing to trade - but I had nothing of worth at the time so went on my way. Now I have cash and want something, I can't find the damn place again because there's no way (that I've found) of bringing up places you've fond and adding them to your compass.

How to revisit planets in No Man's Sky

After you've discovered a couple of star systems, returning to old planets becomes a bit complicated. You'll have to know the name of the planet you want to visit – we suggest you name at least one planet in each system, or keep a travelog. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Press Options to open up the menu.
    Go to the Discoveries tab.
Examine the list of the left. Find the planet you want to revisit on it.
Memorize the name of its system.
Make sure you're in space, in your ship, then press Down on the D-Pad to open the star map.
It will be centered on your current system. Follow the thick lines and check out the systems they lead to. One of them will be the one you're looking for.
Once you arrive, just rotate the ship until you see your final destination.

I'm not out of my star system yet. I barely can make it off my initial planet.

I don't have a warp drive and my pulse engine is running out with no way to recharge it.

After huge pre-release expectations, this game got trashed when it was released. It is on sale right now. Is it any good yet? Pros/cons?

What is it all about?

It's on half-price sale very regularly (which maybe gives you some info) and I've often been tempted too, but have held off because I've heard it's a bit grindy

I think NMS is the poster-child for how to listen to customers and update the game (technically, it was never in early access).

Yes, it was deservedly panned when it first came out. But the game has been fixed, and better yet expanded so much, it is not even the same game; in a very good way.

All of the major updates and feature adds were done at no additional cost to the users.

It is a great game now. If you like base building, exploration, light combat, mining, crafting, questing, spaceship customization, story-lines that you can follow or ignore, and an open universe, NMS is hard to beat for the price.

It's like playing in an MMO, without the other people. I understand you can play in a PvE group, but I have always played solo.

It has some quirks and minor frustrations, but overall, well-worth the effort and money IMHO. Also, all the environments and planets are mostly dynamically generated, it does not have the hand crafted content that Starfield does. But it will be a long time before NMS gets "samey."

I often go back to this game; Steam has me at 230+ hours.

JH is right, but be prepared, it's a huge time-sink, but in a good way. There is so much to see and so much to do, and the visuals are stunning. Enjoy!

NMS is 3 or 4 high quality games rolled into one package. The only thing I wish was better is the flight model.
