During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

It helped a lot that Re d'Italia had no way on, being in the middle of going astern.
And PT-109 was idling quietly trying to hear, since in the pitch dark night they couldn't see for any distance.
