D&D Next

Wondering if anyone's downloaded and tried out the new D&D Next rules from WOC:

I did, but have only briefly perused the rules. A friend of mine at work (well, work for the next two days anyway) is actually running a campaign using these rules, and he says it harks back to the 70s/80s era of D&D. I've had the blue book since 1978-79 or so, so this should be interesting.

Some friends and I tried them out for a bit, but that was probably 9 months and at least 3 version updates ago. I haven't even looked over the latest set from last week yet.

I've been reading along with the playtest material but I haven't played in an RPG group in over a year.
